Just to throw summat out there, do reckon there's any chance of getting Spearing permanently? Has there been any word of it or is it accepted he will pop back down the East Lancs come May?

Not heard owt. Common sense says, he won't play much for Liverpool.

I strongly suspect that IF Holden is anywhere near, we will save our pennies though.......

True, spearing has the best attitude of anyone at the pitch anywhere, commited and determined, but so is Holden and certainly in the past I would say Holden was the better player.

If we see him anywhere close to his pre injury levels then we could have the strongest midfield partnership in the league with him and medo with backup not too shabby at all in pratley and vela. Not much point in holding onto andrews though.

Aye and Andrews is very competent.

Spearing has grown on me. Were he out of contract I'd imagine we'd definitely be keeping him.

But can I see Dougie spending money (presumably Liverpool won't loan him to us again) to buy him and then pay his wages? Not with what we've got in midfield. Were we to go up it could be different.

Though in the ultra athletic, physical and powerful world of the premiership, I think Medo and Spearing as combative as they are, might not be quite right as a partnership.

What sort of cock would think we could get away with playing anything but a seriously exceptional 2 in the Prem?

Has to be back to 3, with one of them Mark Davies

“He has not said ‘no’ and we are not doing too badly in terms of coaching him and making him play every week. We have got our fingers crossed on that one.

“But if he doesn’t I will still go to bed at 9pm every night and still have a very good sleep and move on and get someone else.”

Must like his sleep though our Dougie. 9pm?

You don't half go over the top with the praise for Freedman. If he describes his walking action, I'd expect you to say "one foot in front of the other? Bravo, Lord Douglas, bravo".

His transfers have been okay and our form has improved under him but he's not the Mourinho/Ferguson/God hybrid you think he is.

I imagine Spearing might be minded to come, and we'll ask Liverpool how much they want, then be slightly surprised by how much it is and spend elsewhere instead. DF may fancy a new striker and the defence might need some reconstruction so it's not like midfield is a priority: Andrews is under contract for another two seasons yet so it's hard to imagine finding a buyer (not that Freedman doesn't like him anyway); Holden is the big unknown; Vela the future; Pratley a trusted foot soldier.

Yep.

LerPool, like Spurs (or would that be Rednapp ??) always go for top price when selling, in the belief that, if they play for them then they simply must be worth a fortune.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Are we seriously giving knight another year? :/

Id bin him; Ricketts and SKD. Ream if viable but thats a pipe dream unless we can get him to do a Cid and retire.

Anyone else can stay. I'm far from sold on the oil tanker that is Matt Mills but he'll be on a long deal.

Think we'll struggle to afford Spearing. Dawson is a dream.

Dougie's found his striking option for his second season:

Holden looks set to sign his new deal according to this report from ESPN today:

http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/soccerusa/id/2180?cc=5739#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"But with Bolton hanging around the playoff places, playing opportunities with the first team dried up, and with reserve matches only doing so much to move Holden along, manager Dougie Freedman made the decision to loan him out for a month.

Holden is quick to add that there is no intention of the loan turning into a permanent move. Bolton has been in talks with Holden about a new contract with the player stating that all that's left is "an end-stage negotiation."

"End-stage negotiation" sounds like asking a masseuse for extras...

You agree that this should have a happy ending.

I'd actually take him if he was interested and wasn't too high in wage demands (unlikely I know). Nice bit of decent defensive cover, experience to show our back 4 how it's done when Dawson leaves. Could help to get them organised on the training pitch or ingame.
Well, Stretford, Citeh, & Lerpool aren't going to take him, so unless Stoke fancy him he'll be having to reduce his expectations.

There'd be far worse for 12months.
