Yon League Slider thing I pasted up there. Watch it in Position (rather than alphabetical) order and see how Palace have basically had one good spell since before Christmas...
Oh and watch it with the lines on, 'cos this is a mad tight division innit.

Interestingly, the biggest stutter for us in the whole season there comes with the change of management in the Jan/feb time.*
*This is in no way offered as a critique of managerial ability, before we meander down that well-trodden blind alley.

I've not bothered to check the facts but a Wednesday fan was saying they would have been safe with the points they have now last year... but this year they're in teh relegation battle. I think we were only 10 points better off at the time. So yeah, mad tight division!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:this is a mad tight division innit.

The win that put us in the play-off zone is the win that mathematically made us safe... With just 4 games left to play after it.

Wolves really can't afford to do a double relegation so them playing for survival on the last day would be perfect for usboltonboris wrote:Another thought.. We all seem to want Wolves to go down, which isn't unreasonable...BWFC_Insane wrote:Interesting thought, say we beat Leicester tomorrow night, they may then feel it's all over for them and give up the ghost against Palace and Forest.Armchair Wanderer wrote:Leicester have a few six-pointers.thebish wrote:ChrisC wrote:
Who is to say all the playoff contenders won't lose every game from now until the end of the season? Impossible to read.
I am!
Leicester v BWFC
M/Boro v Forest
Palace v Leicester
Forest v Leicester
*Just bought tix for the Blackpool game... it's got domed written all over it!
On the other hand a draw that keeps them interested, and they could take points off those two.....
Hmmm.
But they visit Brighton on the final day.. Let's hope they've got something to play for, because I reckon it'll go that far.

Re: 4 Games to go
Our form place at top of the form table is only if take the last eight games, if you take the last six games we are third. You can get statistics to say whatever you want them to.CAPSLOCK wrote:Do you need to have 'played sport, not football, at a high level' to be so full of shitgizmothevoomer wrote: What I am saying is on current form I can see us getting 7 Pts, unfortunately on current form I see other teams doing better.
Our form is the best in the league
Doesn't mean bollocks, though
Cardiff and Blackpool are in 5th and 8th in the form table, Middlesborough and Leicester are the bottom two in form table. That said Leicester have to beat us in front of their own fans to have any chance of play offs. Although not in any sort of form they haven't been hammered by anyone, and in a must win game they are going to be well motivated and can't see them losing. So 7Pts is all I see, please tell me where you see more?
I have given Palace 7 Pts, Brighton 7 Pts and Forest 9 Pts and Leicester 2 Pts, Looking at those I can see Leicester getting a few more points, but the others are pretty solid again tell me where you see less or more?

Re: 4 Games to go
I think the point is, Gizmo, that you're being overly generous to our rivals. And that it seems fecking bonkers to say we're gonna make the playoffs when we're in 20th, only to say we've got a snowflakes chance in hell when we hit 6th.
Separately, I'm gonna be spending the next 4 games hoping both for Bolton to get into the playoffs, and for Palace to feck up massively. I don't wanna have to miss the home leg...

Re: 4 Games to go
At the beginning of Febuary, I looked at the number of games left and made a point we were improving under Dougie and that given the tightness of the league this year, any team down to 20th could of put a run together to put themselves into the play offs. I re read my post earlier today we were 17th not 20th my mistake.truewhite15 wrote:I think the point is, Gizmo, that you're being overly generous to our rivals. In my post on here I have given what I believe to be a fair assessment of were teams will finish based upon what I perceive respective teams form to be. What I said was that I don't believe Bolton will pick up 3 Pts at Leicester or Cardiff I hope I am wrong.
I also said all five teams have the ability to make the play offs ( In hindsight potential would of been a better word than ability, but the final positions would have more to do with coping with the Mental pressure that this run in puts have on all five teams.
Personally I am glad we are were we are, and would delighted to be in the play offs but was posting with my head not my heart. I would also point out that when I tried to predict where the same teams would be now in the league with 8 to play I only came close to getting us and Brighton right! So maybe I not as smart as I'd like to think I am to paraphrase the song.
Re: 4 Games to go
Rather weirdly I sat working out that we had the joint 5th best defence in the league. Who would have thunk that at the beginning of FebruaryLittle Green Man wrote:Without Craig Dawson.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: Another thought: if we finish fifth or sixth and are therefore away for the second leg, the likelihood is that we'll spend it defending a narrow aggregate lead. Pfffft.

On my jollies from the 24 May, long standing and one there is no way out off. Definite for the the 2 playoff semis but sadly missing from the biggy if we get that far.truewhite15 wrote:Ah, ya barsterds. I'm gonna be on me jollies for the 1st leg. I hope to god we're away first...

Re: 4 Games to go
It has been a fun ride watching this team in the championship, and I rue the fact that there aren't more televised games stateside. I can't imagine what the atmosphere must be like in person right now. good luck to you lot.

1) It's the hope that kills you

As previously stated I am running the BUPA 10k in London on the 27th May so there's no way we're making the playoff final.

You mean like they did at the end of last season?CAPSLOCK wrote:If we all keep going at our seasons ppg, we need 2 wins and a draw
Gets me how suddenly folk think all our rivals are going to start winning every game

Re: 4 Games to go
I'm not sure I get this. Would that not mean you couldn't go, about which you'd be devastated and so means we are MORE likely to get there, applying all known jinx-law?Gary the Enfield wrote:As previously stated I am running the BUPA 10k in London on the 27th May so there's no way we're making the playoff final.

Re: 4 Games to go
That's just statutory jinxing. Case jinxing says otherwise. There's a fundamental clash in this area which the Scots have overcome by the use of a corroborative jinxing clause. Only GtE is running the BUPA 10k and reporting jinxing activity and therefore he's uncorroborated, so the jinx can be dismissed as a figment. Glad to help.Prufrock wrote:I'm not sure I get this.
