What was that saying about assumption, now?BWFC_Insane wrote:If that is genuinely Spearing then it looks like a broken bone in his foot and a season ender far more than it does a bruised toenail!

Of course it's more serious than a broken toe nail, but what you actually said was this - it looks like a broken bone in his foot. How the Dickens does it look like anything of the sort? Please - amaze me!BWFC_Insane wrote:My point being that a picture like that would lead me to think it MIGHT be more serious than a damaged toenail.Bruce Rioja wrote:I can see what you wrote - I've quoted it. I'm well aware as to the myriad reasons for placing his foot and ankle in a protective boot, but you, oh no. Would you like me to repeat what you wrote as you seem to have conveniently forgotten. You wrote - it looks like a broken bone in his foot! No it doesn't. It LOOKS LIKE his foot's been placed in a protective boot, and that is ALL any of us can see - even you!BWFC_Insane wrote:Perhaps if you tried reading the post instead of doing your usual Harry Enfield "Self Righteous Brother" impression you'd see that I was merely saying that a protective boot would "often" indicate something like a broken bone MORE than it would a bruised toe nail.Bruce Rioja wrote:You come out with some shite, you, but that takes the fecking biscuit.BWFC_Insane wrote:If that is genuinely Spearing then it looks like a broken bone in his foot and a season ender far more than it does a bruised toenail!
How the juddering feck can you possibly 'know' what the damage is from that photo? Dear me.
It may just be precautionary, it may even not be Spearing.
It could well be as Boltonboris points out, a mere precautionary measure to reduce swelling.
I never said it was owt. I said it looks more like something serious than something trivial.
Perhaps that's one mahoosive assumption. I don't think it's entirely unreasonable though.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Not everyone gets chance to read all the replies and helps people who might have missed it earlier.

Give him a break. He probably thought his 3D specs for the telly were x-ray specs.Bruce Rioja wrote:

Just mooching around the forums today, and on Wanderers Ways someone is reporting that Spearing is in plaster and out for the season.
Awful news if true.
Any of you twitter people heard anything?

Apparently he's fine: http://www.lionofviennasuite.com/2013/4 ... -liverpool" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Jay has had a bruised nail for a number of weeks and it's not sore at all when he's got a pair of flip-flops on but with these fancy new boots they have these days that squash it, he got a kick and it was sore. I think he will be fine for Tuesday, it was just very uncomfortable for him. But I thought Medo was fantastic when he stepped in."

To be fair you don't need x-ray vision to know that a protective boot like that after an impact injury means that the person has broken a bone or is suspected to have broken one.

He had grown up cynics thinking it was season ... if not career ... ending.
Scouse wuss.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

The person on wanderers ways reckons Dougie is just "playing the game" to keep Leicester in the dark about the full extent of the injury. As I say I don't know how true that is. I'll be amazed, and deligted in equal measure should Spearing be playing tonight.Sponge wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Just mooching around the forums today, and on Wanderers Ways someone is reporting that Spearing is in plaster and out for the season.

Re: Spearing after Bristol game?
I'm not sure Spearing being in or out has such a bearing on how we play. Meaning it is hardly going to change Leicester's approach to the game either way. Someone like Eagles I could see, or if it was a player that meant the difference between being strong or weak in a particular area of the pitch.BWFC_Insane wrote:The person on wanderers ways reckons Dougie is just "playing the game" to keep Leicester in the dark about the full extent of the injury. You don't wear one for a bruised toe. Not when you're sitting watching telly at least. Usually you'd wear that if you're waiting for the swelling to reduce pre x-ray or scan.mrkint wrote:No it doesn't!BWFC_Insane wrote:To be fair you don't need x-ray vision to know that a protective boot like that after an impact injury means that the person has broken a bone or is suspected to have broken one.
I can't in this case imagine any other reason than a worry that he'd broken something.

Re: Spearing after Bristol game?
you can also use one for bad sprains, or simply just protect a v sore bit of soft tissue from unnecessary further injury (like, stubbing yer toe, or summat)
I'm not ruling out a fracture, I'm just saying that there are other reasons to wear one other than that

Re: Spearing after Bristol game?
How many footballers have injured themselves sat on the sofa? A few. It could easily be a precaution to stop a dozy footballer knocking it whilst playing Fifa 2020 or whatever they play these days. Equally, he may have had it amputated; we just don't know...BWFC_Insane wrote:You don't wear one for a bruised toe. Not when you're sitting watching telly at least. You're wasting your time. All of a sudden he's a fecking Chiropractor too (with x-ray vision).mrkint wrote:you can also use one for bad sprains, or simply just protect a v sore bit of soft tissue from unnecessary further injury (like, stubbing yer toe, or summat)

Yes, I accept that, but in this case at least as reported it was an impact injury rather than a strain.mrkint wrote:you can also use one for bad sprains, or simply just protect a v sore bit of soft tissue from unnecessary further injury (like, stubbing yer toe, or summat)

As for the second reason, possible, though I'd imagine there'd be a more "streamlined" solution possible for protecting a toe!
