Alonso has done well since Christmas. Still can't defend for toffee like.
Probably we will be stronger if we can find both left and right backs that can defend.

Surely we'd get him Monoprix-contract agreement?Always hopeful wrote:Anyone know anything about the boy Matthew (Matalan) Alan we're showing some interest in?

We need a midfield general that can Carrefour others!

Mirror this morning had Cardiff after Eagles for £2m
Thought I'd better update y'all from Dortmund (we're off to the Westfalenstadion tomorrow)

He was clearly pissed at the fans doubting him, in an interview last week. Nice enough player who 'does it' about one game in 3. If we can get £2m for him AND keep CYL for next season it'll be no bad thing.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Personally I think over a season in this league Eagles is more effective than LCY......bobo the clown wrote:Fair enough, tbh,Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Mirror this morning had Cardiff after Eagles for £2m

not sure I believe that - but it's not summat we have any empirical evidence for!BWFC_Insane wrote:Personally I think over a season in this league Eagles is more effective than LCY......bobo the clown wrote:Fair enough, tbh,Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Mirror this morning had Cardiff after Eagles for £2m

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Be a mistake to let Eagles go. None of the midfield/frontmen are perfect all the time. The guy can play, isn't afraid to shoot and does score. Will we get better for what we can afford to pay? Doubt it.

LCY has taken a long time to come back uo to speed, but I'd take him over Eagles for next year.
I also wonder whether Eagles was impacted by the sacking of his mentor.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
If we're in the Premiership (unlikely) then I'd happily sell. Too inconsistent for me at the highest level. Good player at Championship level, where his many off days don't have such an impact on us overall. LCY is a better player for me and should get better. I don't expect Eagles to get any better or consistent.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I think that's also my view - and I was encouraged to see something of the old CYL returning at Bristol - particularly his apparent lack of fear over tackles and collisions, which (I hope) means he can play without fear - in the way he used to - making stuff happen - trying stuff...Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:If we're in the Premiership (unlikely) then I'd happily sell. Eagles - it seems to me - can turn a game - but equally, he can drop his head quite quickly...
not that i am desperate to lose either of them!

My view is that LCY is a fantastic worker, good technique, competent finisher and a decent creative player.thebish wrote:I think that's also my view - and I was encouraged to see something of the old CYL returning at Bristol - particularly his apparent lack of fear over tackles and collisions, which (I hope) means he can play without fear - in the way he used to - making stuff happen - trying stuff...Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:If we're in the Premiership (unlikely) then I'd happily sell. Eagles is at his best direct, a goalscorer and capable of going past his man.
For me at championship level Eagles will win games for you more than LCY.
In the premiership it's a different matter.

well - you may be right - you may be wrong - I'm not of a mind to be so dogmatic given the lack of evidence...BWFC_Insane wrote:My view is that LCY is a fantastic worker, good technique, competent finisher and a decent creative player.thebish wrote:I think that's also my view - and I was encouraged to see something of the old CYL returning at Bristol - particularly his apparent lack of fear over tackles and collisions, which (I hope) means he can play without fear - in the way he used to - making stuff happen - trying stuff...Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:If we're in the Premiership (unlikely) then I'd happily sell. (also - I'm not sure it is fair to compare "Eaglesathisbest" with LCY - you should compare Eaglesathisbest with LCYathisbest and at the same time ask who is athisbest more often...)

Eagles will have more goals / assits than cyl. Thats where its at. Be a mistake to sell IMO. Unless he wants out.
