Re: Middlesbrough to the slaughter!
We knocked it about well and looked easy on the eye. Bit we lacked a cutting edge at times.
Some great play and another win.
BWFCi. I thought Zat was sound.. Agree on the booing. I tweeted as much earlier. Disgraceful behaviour.

I saw Eagles head 3 balls today. I'm proud of him for that!
In all seriousness, he's really getting stuck in a lot more than he has in the past.

I'll re-look for it.Bruce Rioja wrote:I'm not up to speed on the goss', but can you let me have a link to summat in which he's throwing a strop, Bobo? Pleased if he was there dressed proper & having photos takem with fans, but I read somewhere of his stropping v Wolves when the 3rd sub went on & it wasn't him, that there were dressing-room words spoken after that he took it forward into the following weeks training.
Certainly the fact that he wasn't even a sub at Leicester and then again today supports that, and Dougie's remark that anyone who performs in training can get on the squad ... and then doesn't select him, adds to that.
I'll see what I can find.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Middlesbrough to the slaughter!
Rumour at the game today, and I stress a rumour was that he hasn't turned up for some club appointments/fan meet type of stuff.
Re: Middlesbrough to the slaughter!
You know what I initially read that as 'HAD' 3 balls and thought it was a comment on his getting stuck in Haha!89bwfc89 wrote:I saw Eagles head 3 balls today. I'm proud of him for that!

Fair play though, he even got a crack in the chops and didn't fall over! He's playing well again and it's good to see. Even got his name chanted in a rare bit of love from the fans. He seems to get more away than home from what I've seen. personally hope he doesn't go anywhere in the summer. The guy is frustrating but pure class in this division when on song.

Surprised by that I always thought they were one of the better behaved clubs in Greater Manchester could see Oldham doing it but not Stockport. Looks like another high profile incident.Bijou Bob wrote:Meanwhile, here's what we could have won.....

BBC Hereford & Worcester at Kidderminster v Stockport: "It is 25 minutes since play was suspended. Within a minute of Kidderminster scoring some Stockport fans came over the fence and Lee Vaughan (Kidderminster player) was apparently punched. There are a number of police officers heading into the Stockport end to the ground. Hopefully the police can now restore some kind of order. It is a desperately sad sight."

I think you are correct Bruce. See http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/bo ... mpionship/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Bruce Rioja wrote:Dyer was Knight's man. It was 3 on 3 in the middle as the ball was crossed (after Ricketts was licked for pace by their No 8 again for the cross) Knight, absolutely inexplicably, runs off of Dyer (his man) and into this no-man's land towards the right hand side of our six yard box. The ball sails over his useless jump, as you might expect. Dawson leaves his man to try and cover Knight's Sunday League player type mistake but can't get there in time. As such, one of the shortest players in the league scores an almost free header.LeverEnd wrote: Dawson 7 did Ok in his last home game, let dyer get ahead for the goal though
Knight 7 defended well, looks confident
Thanks Zat, you utterly clueless pile of absolute calamity. It's every single fecking game!

Oh, so him doing what he's expected to do for some of the time but fecking it up royally on occasion enough for us to concede needless goals is ok, is it?Bijou Bob wrote:A tad harsh for me this time Brucey, I thought he had a fairly solid game today and led the back line well.

Zatiah is an absolute disaster simple as that the idea of us building a team around him will give me restless nights for weeks if not months or god forbid years. This man should have never of been signed and we knew and yes from watching the replay it looked totally his fault, I mean I would not let a runner get free in 100 times yet Zat has managed to do it several times just in this season.

And Bristol City's goal, anyone? A basically identical 4uck-up! where he runs forward rather than staying with his man? Utterly abysmal.mrkint wrote:That's Zat 'two England caps' Knight to you lot!

How is the question I ask, I know a season ticket holder at Fulham (a teacher) and he said he was a liability for a good bit of his time there and we all knew he was shite by the time he joined Villa.mrkint wrote:That's Zat 'two England caps' Knight to you lot!

Re: Middlesbrough to the slaughter!
I'm hardly Zats biggest fan. But for me he was good today. I'll watch champo in a bit. Dawson looked shakier i thought. The problem in that defence is Sam fecking Ricketts. He's done,.perhaps carrying an injury. Still no choice but to play him now. That lad on their left wing couldnt trap a bag of cement and beat him every time...he'll cost us.
Two centre mids for us the difference today. Chungy was neat but not really effective. Eagles more useful, more inconsistent.
Craig Davies over sordell every time. CD actuallyran round sordell to chase it down first half. Sordell was better second half.
First we looked neat and tidy without being threatening. If they had scored first and sat on it could of been a disaster. We scored and then looked like winning it. Why so nervous when they were down to 10 though?
And booing butterfield. feck off.

The one today wasn't quite as bad to be fair. I think he drifted in front of the near post to try and cut the cross out. Still poor don't get me wrong, but not quite as shocking.Bruce Rioja wrote:And Bristol City's goal, anyone? A basically identical 4uck-up! where he runs forward rather than staying with his man? I'd be interested when crosses come in whether players are coached to follow their man or if it goes more like zonal marking. I can imagine in the split second it can be quite hard to follow a runner like Dyer in. Genuine question.

Re: Middlesbrough to the slaughter!
Well, look at it again and you'll see that Knight doesn't come even remotely close to either - cutting out the cross, marking a zone that requires marking or tracking his, or indeed any man whatsoever. In fact, if you were to pinpoint an area into which he could actually be the least effective on any front whatsoever, then, that's the one that he decides to run into. Tell me I'm wrong!BWFC_Insane wrote: I think he drifted in front of the near post to try and cut the cross out. Still poor don't get me wrong, but not quite as shocking.

Knight is our worst central defender, I think. As error prone as Ream is, he's the better player, and whilst I don't rate Mills, I'd pick him over Knight is he was fully fit. Not that it needs saying but Wheater is in another league entirely. The only time Knight looks like a solid defender is when he is faced with the most basic of problems but anything beyond that and he's found out to be a liability.

Essentially four new defenders needed next season, possibly 3 if Wheater returns and is ok.
But Alonso can't defend for toffee. Neither can Ricketts. And Knight usually has a mistake or two in him.
Definitely an area to work on.

I looked today and thought that it was likely that, by next season's start, the back 4 will all be gone, for various reasons.BWFC_Insane wrote:Essentially four new defenders needed next season, possibly 3 if Wheater returns and is ok.

For a manager who clearly wishes to build from the back up that's going to be a serious job he has on his hands. However unfair the booing was today I hope to fck that the standard of who he brings in is higher than Butterfield.
