Arts Council England has spent £535,000 of Lottery money on the project, which was due to have run throughout 2012 as part of the Cultural Olympiad.

This article sums up pretty much what I felt when I saw that list. Although I might have had more to say about how poor a painter Liadom-Boakye is and how we've already seen black people painted badly before when Chris Ofili did it.

I am familiar with two names on that list - Berthe Morisot, lovesick groupie of Manet (and indeed poster girl of the recently concluded Manet exhibition at the Royal Academy), producer of third rate impressionist paintings, and Michelangelo Antonioni, post-war Italian filmmaker of 'L'Avventura'.

I look forward to hearing how on earth they fit the exhibition's theme

And, of course, Blow Up and Zabriskie Point. I liked both of those at the time... Though I think Zabriskie Point was a catastrophe at the box office - almost bankrupting the studio.

Glad you enjoy it's a cliched thing to say but they are so impressive in the flesh...there are also some displays of an artist's (i forget the name) cinema redux series, where he puts each individual frame from a famous film on a canvas. They looked so good. Though not good enough that it would make me part with the best part of £2,000
