Re: Who would you prefer to face in the play-offs?
Surely the criteria should be who we are most likely to beat, and as Berkshire is nearer to 'Ull then the journey won't take as long. Not sure where Watford is on the faeces scale certainly I have no fond memories of it.bwfcdan94 wrote:Because "Ull" is a sh*thole and I think they are a better side then Watford. Apart from anything it is a long way from Berkshire. Read in the Cardiff programme yesterday that Cardiff fans will be picked up at 4am for their excursion to Hull on saturday, 4 am you would have to be barmy to do that surely.ChrisC wrote:bwfcdan94 wrote:If Palace win one more game (remember they still have 2 left to play) then we will play either "Ull" or Watford. I would prefer to play Watford although TBH if we make it to the play offs we will win them any way, full stop.
Out if interest, why would you prefer Watford Dan?

Not only that, Brizzle, but a place's tidiness is, according to Disparate Dan, a leading factor as to whether or not its football side might be deemed worthy playoff opponents or not. As such, I look forward to the away leg against Stow on the Wold 1st XIbristolwanderer wrote:Everywhere is a crap hole according to you Dan, looking forward to seeing which city/town/village is next...

It seems this end of season may take me to Hull and back, & rather perversely that's what I'd like. They've had a right slide & are also bound to be on a bit of a downer if they've missed automatic. Then 'Palace in the final please.

I'd rather have Hull than Watford on football and travel grounds in the semi final and anyone but Brighton in the final. I really think they're the team to beat, on that big pitch at Wembley and the way they've played against us I'd be fearing another Stoke debacle.

Believe it or not, Wembley's pitch is identical in size to the Reebok's.Dr.Karl wrote:I'd rather have Hull than Watford on football and travel grounds in the semi final and anyone but Brighton in the final. Try telling that to Coyles class of 2011

I want to go, so Watford. Though I see the logic of having more chance of beating Hull.

Althought I agree we were largely outplayed by brighton it's worth noting that we weren't beaten by them and took 4 points from 2 games, deserved or not.

Re: Who would you prefer to face in the play-offs?
Of the possible candidates (Hull, Watford and Brighton), we've taken at least three points off all of them - albeit only 1 point away from home. Out of preference, I think I'd rather Hull, we historcially don't travel well to the South/South Coast if memory serves.
Re: Who would you prefer to face in the play-offs?
Hull are the obvious ones. They'll be gutted if they don't go up from the position they were in.

It's obvious. If we are going to be domed, we might as well be domed to a team from a town with domes. Brighton.
That's not a leopard!

I'd prefer a difficult semi to scrape through and Hull in the final. Can't see it happening though. I suspect Watford and Brighton in that order.

Whoever gets us won't fancy coming up here. That's all I'm arsed about.

Good point. Would have to say we appear to be one of the more consistent teams in the play-off race (at least at Home) which is as much a tribute to Dougie as anything else he's done at the club. If we can find enough goals at the right times we'll be a handful in the play offs should we get there.boltonboris wrote:Whoever gets us won't fancy coming up here. That's all I'm arsed about.

Flip side is, with our patchy away form, we'd need to be taking a big advantage with us for me to feel confident in the second leg.
And I don't know why we're doing this anyway, Blackpool are going to beat us 17.5-nil, then Forest will beat Leicester by at least an innings and 20 runs, and they'll have declared by halftime.

They might not fancy the Reebok, but none of the other 11 teams in the Football League play-offs (as it stands) has won fewer away points...
Hull have a better home record than Watford, who (like Allardyce's last promoted team) win more points away than at home - Zola's men average almost 2 goals per game on their travels... and not far shy of that at home, either.

This is why I don't like this thread.
I'm worried enough about Saturday without worrying about anything beyond that.
Will we cope without Dawson, who will play up front? Can we defend against Ince (almost certainly a big fat NO to that one).....
