The received wisdom, from the 'appy 'arry Appreciation Society appears to be that it's all Mark Hughes' fault. It appears he bought players at vast fees, on vast salaries who all failed to have heart.officer_dibble wrote:I am happy about this. Clearly someone other than 'Arry's fault

Ah. That makes sense, and I'm glad it's been cleared up. This was a tricky one for sure, as, from the outside, it's certainly looked a lot like it was 'Arry's fault.

Re: Dear God he is at it already
Goodbye forever? Redknapp fears they might never get back to Prem
The inevitable has been confirmed, now there'll be a fire sale, but Harry warns: "QPR are not a superpower going into the Championship. Harry Redknapp saw his QPR side finally relegated – and says they may never come back. Rangers owner Tony Fernandes will have talks with Redknapp this morning about a fire sale before next season. Fernandes said: “Meeting Harry at 11am to discuss squad. Going to be tough but we will come back stronger.”
But Redknapp admitted: We’re going into the Championship next year and it’s going to be very, very hard to get out of it. Make no mistake about that.”
Striker Loic Remy, defender Chris Samba and keeper Julio Cesar will all be offered to clubs to get them off the Rangers wage bill. Liverpool have now joined the hunt for £8million-rated Remy, who is also attracting strong interest from Arsenal, Everton, Spurs and Inter Milan. The 26-year-old Frenchman has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for the amount that Rangers paid for him back in January in the event of relegation.
Liverpool boss Rodgers is understood to be keen to bring in reinforcements for his Anfield frontline regardless of what happens with Luis Suarez this summer. Arsenal are understood to have had Remy watched for a second time at the Madejski yesterday while Spurs have him on their shortlist as a replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor.
Redknapp added: “QPR are not a superpower going into the Championship. You look at that League and you will see 14, 15, 16 big clubs that have won things over the years.” The Hoops will also offer payoffs to players such as big-earning Jose Bosingwa, Esteban Granero and Park Ji-Sung to avoid shouldering their salaries in the Championship.
Redknapp also refused to hit back at Joey Barton, on loan at Marseille, after the midfielder branded the players at Loftus Road “w*****s”. Barton said: “To many w*****s amongst the playing staff. All brought in by Hughes. Some good lads but not enough. Too many maggots.”
But Redknapp said: “ That’s Joey’s opinion. I’ve always said when I was going well, the game is about good players.
“If you’ve got good players managing football clubs is the easiest job in the world. At the end of the day we were short in all respects.”
“It’s Saturday-midweek every week, you need players who are going to be up for playing three times a week. Not people who play on a Saturday and feel tired all week and can just about raise a gallop the following Saturday.
“Hopefully the players should be hurt, I’m sure they are.”

Getting the excuses in early Harry.
Top, top work.

Re: Dear God he is at it already
i still haven't heard one word of criticism in the media over Harry not keeping them up...
(despite him breaking their transfer record TWICE!!)
apparently he's just the man to get them back up - what with him being such a good man-manager... all he needs to do is buy a few players - like the bound-to-be0-dirt-cheap Scott Parker!

It's sickening. I mean I'll be fair, I don't think I'd particularly pin their relegation on 'Arry.thebish wrote:i still haven't heard one word of criticism in the media over Harry not keeping them up...(despite him breaking their transfer record TWICE!!)

However, given that they were pretty much doomed, you have to question a manager who then goes and spunks millions and a massive contract on Christopher Samba.
I mean surely you hedge your bets a bit when it looks like you're going down with an overpaid, under-interested squad? Surely? Sign a loan or two, perhaps 1 decent solid signing.
But no in Appy Arry's world you go and chuck yet even more money at it and saddle the club with even more ridiculous contracts than the ones they're already paying.
Madness.

He has been there since November, how the feck are you avoiding pinning it on him?!

Well I just think going in like that to a side bottom of the league with a load of players that don't care....yeah he might have done better points wise but I can't think of many who would have turned it round sufficiently.Prufrock wrote:He has been there since November, how the feck are you avoiding pinning it on him?!
It's not a click your fingers job. Takes time to re-structure the coaching organise the side, set the standards. By the time you've done that, well, you're virtually dead.
I just think I'd not judge him to be mainly responsible. I just think he then came in and spunked silly money in an attempt to almost defy the odds. Which is irresponsible at best.

Give over, he was employed to keep them up and backed to the hilt by the club financially, and by the bloody media love-in, to do so. Everything was in his favour. He's failed spectacularly.

Hand on heart do you think anyone was going to keep them up?Lord Kangana wrote:Give over, he was employed to keep them up and backed to the hilt by the club financially, and by the bloody media love-in, to do so. Everything was in his favour. He's failed spectacularly.

I'm not disputing that Redknapp is overhyped. Feck I'm saying what he's done at QPR is totally irresponsible management.
But to be fair, I think they were fecked when he came in, probably fecked long term as soon as they got rid of Warnock and chased survival with loadsa cash.
I think Arry is a symptom rather than a cause at QPR. He's exactly the sort of fly-by-night chancer a club like QPR would turn to in an almost impossible scenario.
They did and he did what you'd expect. Spend loads on fairly average players to just add to the problem.
I still think you could have stuck Mourinho in there and it was a massive ask to turn that ship around. And not just around, around in time to get 38 points or so.

Re: Dear God he is at it already
I'm over the moon simply because I remember owner and/or manager saying apropos the very high ticket prices, "We are in the same area of London as Chelsea and so our prices should reflect that", paraphrased a bit but that comes with being smug. Harry says going back to the Prem "...where we belong" the feckin jumped up, overpaid/rated SoB. Bet he goes to Bburn or Newcastle eventually

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

Re: Dear God he is at it already
I don't think you can do that as a manager. He wasn't hired in Novemeber to gently guide the QPR into the Championship. He was hired to fight for survival. Hell, it's not his money. If Fernandez wants to spend £20 million, what is Redknapp supposed to do, say no?BWFC_Insane wrote:However, given that they were pretty much doomed, you have to question a manager who then goes and spunks millions and a massive contract on Christopher Samba.

Yeah, as a manager he's supposed to manage. Make strategic and tactical decisions (and I mean in the overall management sense). One of those things might be if you identify and publically bemoan the players already there on vastly inflated contracts as being 'a problem' not to offer Samba £120k a week contract or whatever silly money he's on.H. It's not football manager that sort of thing is part of what a manager needs to get right.

Re: Dear God he is at it already
Again, it all depends on what mission he was given when he was hired. I'm guessing he was not told to crash into the Championship as gently as possible. Knowing QPR, I'm guessing he was told that he should try to stay up at all costs. So while Redknapp certainly deserves criticism for the players he signed, especially Samba, it's not his job to be Fernandes' conscience. If I was a manager, I don't think I'd have the guts to say "No, don't give me £12.5 million for that player, it's not in the long term interests of this organization."BWFC_Insane wrote:Yeah, as a manager he's supposed to manage. I don't like watching a 6-1 a few days ahead of our game, where such a result somewhere else could mean even a win isn't enough for us!
That said. Ha!
Poor Paolo.
Edit: I was supposed to post this in "Tonight's Football"! As you were.
