Re: SKD off to Canada...
Is your point that we should have played someone who couldn't run anymore ahead of someone who could? I mean are you saying that over the half hour or 40 minutes Eaves got across 3 games that Davies would have scored some goals? I'd say the evidence is pretty thin on the ground for that.Bruce Rioja wrote:To what effect? Did he score tons of goals? Eaves could at least, chase and run and be a general nuisance for defenders. He created a chance for himself against Blackpool with a decent shot from outside the box.
Nowhere am I suggesting he's the second coming. But at least he had enthusiasm and the ability to chase down lost causes. Which I say makes him more effective than the Kevin Davies we've had this season.

Ok to the effec that he held up the ball, chased it, and worked hard and helped us to beat Middlesbrough!

I bet you were a big fan of David Reeves too, weren't you?!

I'm not a big fan of Eaves - I think he could develop but has a way to go yet. But we'll never find out if he's never given games.Bruce Rioja wrote:I bet you were a big fan of David Reeves too, weren't you?!
But beyond that, I just don't really understand the point you're making. Are you saying Eaves is a failure for not scoring in the 3 sub appearances he had?
Are you saying therefore that Davies should have been used instead?
Eaves had come back from a successful loan albeit a division lower where he'd scored a hattrick in one game and presumably had confidence. He hardly was a disaster in the games he played for us, which was a very limited playing time. But I find it hard to think how Kevin Davies could have done any more. IMO wouldn't have been able to do as much. But even if we say that Davies would have had the same effect, then surely we're better off giving the chance to a player who could yet develop into something than one who was leaving us?

I wonder if BSA could work his "Over the hill magic" on SKD, get another season out of him in which he scores a hatful. Just a thought.

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

The wife would have been all over it if that was the case!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Freedman sets a lot of store by performances in training. Can't say much against that. Had we ended the season in neutral mode there may have been an exception, but it seems it would have been based on emotion. Unless, of course, KD was training his heart out and DF had taken umbrage... but does anyone believe that?
Re: SKD off to Canada...
I think saying live on radio that it would hard to do his job for the rest of the season is enough for me. All because he didn't get a contract he patently didn't deserve, on the back of a previous contract he didn't deserve?
That's not speculation about his relationship with Dougie etc, that's hard evidence of dummy-spitting.
Dougie obviously thought he was worth using regularly until that point. He could have strung him along til the end of the season but gave him a chance to move, effectively putting the player's interests above the club's. He's got nothing to complain about.

The mental image of KD bursting into tears like a wean after Dougie 'ruined' his 38th birthday is one I will fondly treasure.
Here's one for you though. It's always puzzled me why adoptive parents wait until 'their' child's 18th birthday party is in full swing before they tell them they were found in a binbag under a pool table in a Croxteth boozer.
'Well son, here you are. We're very proud of you - here are the keys to a souped up Vauxhall Corsa for you to lose control of and plough through a bus queue in. But before you go we'd just like to tell you that me and your mum aren't really your 'MUM' and 'DAD'. They were actually two junkies who despised you and...well you can fill in the blanks...what are you crying for? Look, take the keys...dry your eyes...this is your 18th birthday party - you're meant to be happy...Look just go for a ride in the car and make sure you're back for 5pm because your mum....whoops! Mrs Johnston from now on has made you a lovely dinner. Right...bloody hell, get him a tissue will you Vera? Look, blow your nose, all your mates are laughing at you now. Right, off you go 'son'. See you la----
Sound of screeching tyres and fade.
Errr, where was I? Oh yes, on the subject of @emmad I appreciate she's only standing up for her man like we'd all expect our wives to do but if I was KD or his management team I'd tell her to put a sock in it until he's got a new club, had this ridiculous testimonial she seems to think he's owed or just cemented his legacy with BWFC.
Until then stay off the wine and the ipad.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Talk-Shite doing what they do so well.
Anway, KD believe he can still do it in the Premiership, so I guess Canadianshire been kicked into the long grass.
In case anyone's under any continuing uncertainty about whether he was putting his all into training ... "... I’ve already started to do a bit of training, I’m working towards pre-season and thinking ahead to where I’ll be next season, and I personally can’t wait.".
The season only ended 2 weeks ago. So you'd think that wouldn't be necessary.
Anyway, I'm sure someone will give him a go so long as his salary expectations are realistic.
Much as I became a critic of his final months and I doubt he can re-light his fire in reality I don't think I'd fancy seeing him come out playing against Ream anytime soon.
