Re: Dougie
See you've scared me with this and got me thinking that you can't be messing with the space time continuum, it's taking Sports Science too far. I mean we've all see Back to The Future. What if bits of Dougie start to disappear on the bench like Marty McFly when he was playing guitar and his Dad looked like never getting the chance to bone his Mum?thebish wrote:hmm possibly - but you risk unbalancing the space-time continuum and destroying the world...mrkint wrote:Can you actually usher in a new era by appointing an old member of staff?
Worrying stuff.
I say we go back to ping pong and halftime oranges.

As The Bolton News revealed at the weekend, the club are looking to completely revamp their medical and sports science department this summer with the departure of several existing staff.
But it has now been confirmed that Leather – one of the integral members of Sam Allardyce’s backroom during the Premier League era – will be the man to front up the wholesale changes.
I like the bit at the end of the piece :- "Equipment installed at the club's Euxton-based training ground was comparable with anything else in the country but much of it has remained unused in recent years."
It gave me the image of Coyle and his mates all stood round a piece of equipment scratching their heads and then saying "Sod this, ping pong anyone? Or crossbar challenge perhaps?"

Every single time you read anything about the Coyle days diminishes the useless tw@t still further.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Haha! exactly what I was thinking. Moo backs us going back to science
FABRICE Muamba believes the re-appliance of science could create the right formula for success at Wanderers next season.
It was announced this week that former head physiotherapist Mark Leather has been brought back on board to front up a new and improved sports science department geared specifically to improving players’ fitness and recovery across the board.
It is hoped a revamp of existing facilities at the training ground will help Wanderers avoid the crippling lengthy injury lists that have plagued them in the last few years, with manager Dougie Freedman hailing the changes as an “important step” in his stewardship.
The news has been met with widespread approval among Whites fans, and was equally well received by Muamba, who reckons a modern approach can only benefit the players in Freedman’s squad.
“I think it’s really positive,” he told The Bolton News. “It’s back to what we used to do. We have always had the equipment but I don’t think we have always used it.
“Some people don’t really believe in that side of it, they have a different approach.
“But I think science plays a big part in a football club now and from what I am hearing, it looks as if we are going back to how it is supposed to be. That can only be beneficial and hopefully the boys can respond on the pitch as well.

Should get it. Not unbeaten but got more points than the other nominees. And Eagles nominated for the player award.

True, but I'm sure he was doing or had done a masters in something like engineering/science related subject. Maybe he'd like to diversify?plymouth wanderer wrote:Beat me to it DSBDave Sutton's barnet wrote:Only if he's the best candidate.
