Popping out into the back garden for a cigarette in the rain and (for once) hearing the glorious sound of 'Arsenal, Arsenal'. Music to my ears
F*ck your Mitsubishi Mr Whelan.

Last night I got a f*ck buddy round and was sh*gging all night.
I woke up this morning and found out Wigan had been relegated.
What a great day

Much to the disdain of Mr 89, I've organised for a decorator to come round and re-do pretty much the whole house. The previous owner had a thing for varnished wood which is now being glossed white. It's looking good already and it's made me happy!
We had the chimney swept as well which means we can now have a lovely roaring coal fire....who needs hot, sunny days!?

We are only allowed to burn certain fuels (this depends on the municipality) for air quality reasons, but I don't think people burn coal in private homes anywhere. Coal is only used in power stations in the West of the country, but we export a lot to Japan.89bwfc89 wrote:Much to the disdain of Mr 89, I've organised for a decorator to come round and re-do pretty much the whole house. Re: Today I'm happy about......
Today I'm happy because I've just ordered my new car.
I was less happy though about listening to the guy drone on and on and on about 'common rail engines' and other such fripperies when all I wanted to know about was the blutetooth/sat nav/ DAB radio jobbie and the aircon settings. (and the little hook for hanging my jacket on

Are you obliged to get a diesel engine or is that preference?Bruce Rioja wrote:Today I'm happy because I've just ordered my new car.

Re: Today I'm happy about......
I'm just in the process of deciding on my next car. My last two have been Golfs, and the next might be too, but I quite fancy a Scirocco. Also in the frame is a Hyundai i30 or i40. Whatever it turns out to be though, it wont be new. I generally aim for something 8-10 months old with under 10k on it. Satnav a must and cruise desirable, and something with a bit of pull too as my current Golf is a pretty basic 105hp after the previous 130hp version.Bruce Rioja wrote:Today I'm happy because I've just ordered my new car.

Okay, I interpret this as it is a company car and they insist on diesel, but that would be your choice anyway. Diesel engines are not so popular over here - many gas (petrol) stations do not carry it though of course most truck stops on the highway do.Bruce Rioja wrote:Any way you care to look at it really, Monty.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Are you obliged to get a diesel engine or is that preference?Bruce Rioja wrote:Today I'm happy because I've just ordered my new car.

Re: Today I'm happy about......
They don't insist on it, Monty, I can have whatever I want within budget, but it makes most sense all round. They do prefer us to get diesels though and they also prefer us to buy VWs and Audis. They save money on fuel, I save money on the tax I have to pay for having a company car as we're taxed on emission levels. In the one that I ordered this morning you wouldn't know you were in a diesel it's that quiet. Not short of poke either at 140 bhp.
Clapton - this'll be my third consecutive VW. I looked at a few other things and even had a Peugeot on loan for a few days but nothing came close really.
