Stu has been called up to the USA squad for a stretch of five games over the next 5/6 weeks.

He hasn't exactly fallen over himself to pledge allegiance to our particular flag.

Has he STILL not signed ??

In which case you do doubt that, despite all the words, it's going to happen. Someone else may just decide he's worth the risk. Given the money around in the Prem now some clubs can afford the money as a throw over the shoulder.

I want him to sign, but this is getting tedious now.

Or maybe I'm just a pessimist.

He's sunning himself somewhere fancy before he goes straight to the states for a training camp with the National side. So it's not going to be done for a couple of weeks yet, if it hasn't been.

I was entirely confident this would get sorted. And pretty much I still am.

It does seem to be dragging on a bit though.

There is a possibility that it's already signed and the club are just waiting for a rainy day to announce it.......

Alternatively I guess both sides might be waiting to see how Stu does over the summer!

He's taking the very sensible decision to hold on and see what comes his way. If he has a good few weeks with the States he could well move somewhere else for a higher wage than what he's on now. It's not good for Bolton Wanderers but it is good for Stuart Holden.

I'll lay my cards on the table and say that I expect him to go if he leaves for the USA without re-signing.

Have heard that he hasn't signed but has sent 'documents' to the club that tie him to us for 12 months?!?

Friend of a friend but has been right before! Not even sure what it means!

Wookam - He'd be crackers to go into the international camp, with proper training & then competitive games, without a contract. The risk of another serious injury which would all but kill his career without something to fall back on would be far too risky.

m_taylor - good news, but as Enoch says, ffs give the guy a pen !!

I'd imagine for league registration purposes that there'll need to be a signed document, but I can't see why the fact he hasn't signed anything doesn't mean he isn't already 'contracted' to us. Not saying that he is or isn't but, I'd imagine the club wont announce anything until its in writing, but that doesn't mean it isn't 'done'.

We've sold Bogdan to Houston Dynamo?

Bolton Wanderers Holden to hero Stu as he agrees new one-year deal

7:00am Wednesday 22nd May 2013 in Latest By Marc Iles

STUART Holden has ended any lingering speculation over his future by telling Wanderers he will definitely sign a new contract.

In what will come as welcome news to the fans, The Bolton News understands the midfielder has sent written confirmation to the club that effectively ties him to a new 12-month deal at the Reebok.

Although both parties claimed terms have been agreed for several weeks, the fact there had been no conclusion had caused ripples of concern among the Whites faithful.

Holden was going to be out of contract at the end of June, and could potentially have walked away for nothing, but despite being back home in the US at present, his representatives have now sent documents that will be signed off in person at the end of next month.

Wanderers were refusing to comment last night – but the club had made sorting the 27-year-old’s future a matter of pressing priority and now appear to have got their man.

Holden will link up with the US national team this weekend for a training camp in preparation for forthcoming friendlies against Belgium and Germany.

It will be the first time he has been involved with the national set-up since October 2010, and his aim is to be involved with Jurgen Klinsmann’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Jamaica, Panama and Honduras next month.

After making a careful return to first team football over the last six months, Holden is now ready to embark upon a busy summer in order to return at 100 per cent for Wanderers pre-season schedule.

He has been training with his former club Houston Dynamo and at the renowned Plex Performance centre in Houston over the last week before joining a 26-man training camp in Cleveland, Ohio this Sunday.

It is hoped that with a full summer of football behind him that Holden can once again be a driving force in the Wanderers midfield next season.

After playing just one game in nearly two years, he made fleeting appearances at the end of last season for the Whites along with a four-game loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday.

Iles says "his representatives have now sent documents that will be signed off in person at the end of next month".

Good news, but it's NOT signed. Until it's signed he can go anywhere else.

I've seen some prevarication in my time (Jussi comes to mind) and I do tend to believe it will happen, but promising that you will sign something is different to signing it. Christ, can the guy not write ?
