Our fans would roll their eyes at McCarthy, despite him doing a better job than Freedman did with us with a far inferior squad. Maybe someone like David Flitcroft?

Complete and utter 4cknuggetry. Did Ipswich finish higher than us? You mention earlier about ' quality managers ' and suggest David feckin' Flitcroft. Why not stop griping and feckin moaning and get behind the manager we have. If the Wanderers managed to win the Championship, the FA cup by beating Man Utd 8-0 in the final, and the League Cup next season you'd still feckin moan about the 'lack of quality'. The manager didn't pick the right team etc.............. And people wonder why some players and managers don't want to work at Bolton? Amazing really given how happy and optimistic our fans are.

Roll your eyes all you like. That's what happened. It is FACT. That it doesn't suit you is neither here nor there.

We can strip it down if you like. After 30 minutes who did Freedman take off and what position was he playing? Now then, who did he send on and in what position? Derr fecking nerrrrrrrrr!
Where did Eagles play for the first half hour? It certainly wasn't as a central midfield player!

They started 8 points behind us and finished 8 points behind us, because Mick McCarthy managed to accumulate exactly the same number of points from the same number of games, with a far inferior squad than the one Dougie inherited. So no, it isn't 'complete and utter 4cknuggetry', to suggest that he did a better job with the resources at his disposal.

I'll ask again. Did Ipswich finish higher than us? If you love 'em so much, f*ck off onto their boards

Which part of they 'finished 8 points behind us' did you not understand? They also beat us home and away. It's the sheer quality of debate on here that sets this site apart from the rest.

Were Dougie and Mick the managers in both of those games?

Where was you with your want of a debate when we was on our winning run climbing the table?

Oh.. that's right, you was sat in a dark room somewhere praying we didn't make the play-offs so you could come back and piss and moan some more. Then surprise surprise, You showed your face as soon as we missed out on goal difference.

LeverEnd wrote:Certainly he still has much to prove, especially in terms of away form, but I can't agree with you on transfers. Dawson and Medo were both masterstrokes and to suggest that they were canceled out by DeRidder and Butterfield (50-50?!?!) is madness. Butterfield was an emergency cover signing who would never had got near the first team had Mears and Riley not been ruled out long-term. That was forced upon Dougie. DeRidder played well against Burnley then wasn't really needed due to tactcal developments and went back after a month. No harm done, in fact more good than harm. Hall being put in on the last day was a bad one, but we can't say whether that's down to Dougie picking a bad'un. We'll find out if we sign him.
I see what you're saying but regardless of what expectations Freedman had for them, he brought them into the club hoping they'd do a job. Whether that was a key player or as a last resort, he still thought they'd be good enough for the roles he wanted them to fill. Dawson and Medo were, Butterfield, Hall and De Ridder weren't.

I'm not too critical though, like I said. We'll get a better reflection of his ability in the transfer window when he has a fair amount to spend and time to pick who he wants.

That said, if someone said Freedman could leave and wed get Pulis instead, I'd have no complaints about that at all. I'd be 100% convinced that'd be a good move for the club.

It's not like we don't have form for it.
That argument would be a lot stronger if we hadn't lost 0-2 whilst playing 4-5-1 and then won the rest of the game 2-0 playing 4-4-2.

That decision was as bad as Coyle switching to 4-4-2 against Wigan. It was a massive mistake. When managers play their favoured style of football ahead of what works, you have issues.

After that clueless rant, I'd hope he was on about you.

1. No, Ipswich didn't finish higher because they were further behind when McCarthy took over. McCarthy got the same amount of points than Freedman did but in fewer games.

2. I do support the manager we have and have repeatedly said I want him to succeed. Why you choose to ignore that is beyond me.

3. Learn he difference between fair criticism and bias.

Equally we could have started Sordell and Davies up front, been completely overrun and had no way to change the game. You simply can't attribute the two goals scored before half time to the system change. Blackpool sat back to see the half out, one piece of brilliance from Eagles (scored from a CENTRAL position) and a fluke got us back in the game and we had the momentum. Even with the momentum and a full 45 minutes and a magical system in place we couldn't go on and win the game, and might have ended up losing it.

Bottom line is, I'm sure Dougie would pick a different team if he could do it again. But not because what he picked initially was "wrong" in some terrible tactical oversight sense that the football manager generation will fecking save quit and try again with another ludicrous system. But because the players froze and having a young lad like Hall required the senior players to stand up and lead the way. But they didn't.

So it backfired to an extent. Though Hall was actually the only (minor) spark in the first half hour.

The players were visibly nervous and Blackpool played relaxed.

Personally I'm more annoyed that LCY fecked the best (and possibly only) clear cut chance we created in the second half. More I think about that, the more criminal it is that he didn't put his foot through it and send it back across the keeper.

We were playing a team that had conceded six in their previous away game.

and is any of that attributable to man-management and preparation?

Depending upon which manager you are talking about, you would get two quite different answers.
