One positive thing for Pulis. Thanks to him OC was prevented from spunking £4m on Cameron Jerome

did you? I thought you asked "when was the last time Stoke qualified for Europe?"
I thought I might qualify for some kind of a prize!
Re: Tony Pulis
A Puliser prize?
I sense a Charlton/Curbishley moment here. Or more up to date, Wolves/McCarthy.

I could've put my house on you making a comment like that. What evidence do you have that Stoke losing their unambitious, boring and tedious manager will equal instant doom? The manager will get money, he'll have the fans backing.BWFC_Insane wrote:Stoke fans have been gunning for Pulis for a while now. He showed them the pinnacle, cup final, Europe, mid table safety in the premiership. He hit the proverbial glass ceiling. Very much like Allardyce here. Except disgruntled Bolton fans did not openly turn on Allardyce (I reckon he left 6 months before that might have happened), they just stopped going to matches.
Good luck Stoke. You're gonna need it I suspect.
I hope that in a years time the "careful what you wish for" tagline will apply to them too!
We had 3 managers after Allardyce and there were numerous reasons as to why we were relegated. Not just that we lost big Sam. Otherwise, we'd have gone down instantly.
I'm pleased for their fans.

I'm not saying that they will go down. It will depend what they do next. And yes they might like us suffer a slow and gradual decline rather than a sharp one.boltonboris wrote:I could've put my house on you making a comment like that. Pulis has delivered their most successful period in what, 30 years? I think sometimes fans forget that.
Ok so the fans got fed up. They could appoint well and all be happy. I'd say looking at their historical performance it's as likely if not more so that they'll not.
And my point is valid, the style of football was rigorously and angrily defended by their fans ahead of their semi-final and final appearances. But now they're not happy? It's bollocks if you ask me. They were happy enough with it all when they were flying. But suddenly less so the first really sticky season they've had. So when you analyse it, the results are what they're not happy with. Again for me that's quite short sighted, given how much Pulis took them on and the level he got them to.
Be interesting to see when the next time they make Europe is.....

not really sure what your europe point is... do you think they would have made Europe again any time soon had Pulis stayed?BWFC_Insane wrote:

I think we all know what's being said. It's not going to be proven until time has shown it to be correct or otherwise.
Given our experience it's quite easy to see the possibility that the clamour to be rid of Pulis could well be regretted in due course. It is, however, quite reasonable to think that they could use this to drive on.
My own view, for what it's worth, is that they will probably struggle for a while and, who knows, could drop through ... just as we did. However, it could be just the boost they need to kick on.
It's called "an opinion", it's not fact.
This is a fans forum, not a Court of Law and hard & fast proof is not required .... is it ?
Mentally beating someone senseless coz you disagree with them is tiresome.
Mentally beating someone senseless when you may not disagree with them, but coz it's fun to do is unreasonable.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Softy.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Tony Pulis
I don't think they do. The novelty seems to have worn off and now they've realised that they want a bit of entertainment for their hard earned. Nothing wrong with that.BWFC_Insane wrote:I'm not saying that they will go down. It will depend what they do next. And their "historical performance" was before they were bought out by a somebody worth an absolute fvckload.
And as per your last comment about Europe. You said Martinez is shit, yet he got them into Europe.
I saw a quote from a Stoke fan that was: "the last few seasons have been 90% tedious slog with no entertainment or joy. And the worst thing that can happen? Relegation to the most exciting league there is! I know the Premier League is the 'place to be' but us real supporters know we'll still be here in 50 years time so I value entertainment and memories over just aiming to scrap a shit draw at places like Sunderland in order to reach 40 points"
I think that is absolutely spot on.

It is, absolutely .... & exactly how I got in Allardyce's final year.boltonboris wrote:I saw a quote from a Stoke fan that was: "the last few seasons have been 90% tedious slog with no entertainment or joy. I would still feel that, without hindsight. With it, I do have to wonder though whether I should have appreciated what we had.

Re: Tony Pulis
How short termist can you be though? The football wasn't great over a very short period of time, but we had had some extraordinary entertainment immediately before that.bobo the clown wrote:It is, absolutely .... & exactly how I got in Allardyce's final year.boltonboris wrote:I saw a quote from a Stoke fan that was: "the last few seasons have been 90% tedious slog with no entertainment or joy. It does seem at times that if Insane posted, 'It's Wednesday today.' someone would pick it to bits.
Re: Tony Pulis
only if he posted it on Tuesday and then claimed that Tuesday was was the new Wednesday and was clearly better than the old Wednesday which was utterly rubbish and clearly far worse than Monday, then later claimed that it was, in fact, Friday, even though it was Sunday...Enoch wrote:It does seem at times that if Insane posted, 'It's Wednesday today.' someone would pick it to bits.
