+ Railways, utility companies, post office, justice system, police, ambulance & fire services. In fact most things they touch. Wankers.
It would be interesting to know how many ex public service organisations have been put out for 'contestability' and how many Tory MP's ( or friends of, or ex colleagues of, etc), sit on the boards of said organisations now they are privately run.
Where's Guy Fawkes when you need him?

Troll and proud of it.

Yes sorry, I didn't make it clear. I meant the Government pushed through the changes. GPs that I know were fairly opposed to it.Bijou Bob wrote:Gp's didn't ask for the job but have been given it anyway. Those GP's with positions on the new Clinical Commissioning Groups are being paid an additional 45 grand a year for the work.
Interestingly, whilst the government are convinced that this will create efficiencies (ie savings), where once there were 10 provider organisations in Greater Manchester, now there are 23. Some of them don't know what their role is, what they have been created for or why or even what function they are around to perform.
Mind you, I'm still here piling money into my gold plated pension scheme, so I'm just going to go with the flow.
I did not know they got paid extra. Wowzers. That's a lot extra.
However, that doesn't provide them with extra hours in the day to juggle patient treatment and their new committments.
What a mess.
Oh and replacing NHS Direct with 111 is another mind bogglingly terrible decision this government have made.
Re: Today I'm angry about.....
111 is in meltdown and will have to change back to the model used under NHS Direct I suspect. Politically, the Government can't allow it to fail, but it too is a complete shambles.
Morale is at a shocking low ebb everywhere I go, in the hospitals managers are working 80 plus hours a week under enormous pressure, bullying and harrassment are rife and people are leaving daily. Locally, several directors have just walked due to the pressure.
At the other end of the scale, nurses are working on appallingly understaffed wards, contract cleaning companies are cutting down on staff as they're making no money from their contracts and things are getting dirtier. You couldn't make it up.
The Tories did think that Circle and other private companies would come riding to the rescue, enabling them to show that the private sector can run healthcare services better and cheaper. Thankfully, Circle are failing at their first big hospital and Virgin are becoming mired in conflict of interest issues. You really couldn't make it up.

'Human Rights'?The Sun asked Choudary outright if he had brainwashed Adebolajo.
He said: “With radicalisation, if you are talking about someone rejecting British policy, the difference between good and evil, the right for Muslims to defend themselves, I have no problem with that. If you call that radical, then yes.”
When we asked if he felt responsible for the soldier’s death, he bristled and said: “I feel responsible for my own actions.” He then abruptly ended our conversation, saying: “I think you’ve got the wrong person.”
Choudary and jailed terrorist cleric Omar Bakri Muhammad formed the group al-Muhajiroun, which organised anti-Western demonstrations before it was banned.
Only last month a group of his followers, led by convert Richard Dart, was jailed for planning to attack soldiers in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire.
Choudary admitted he had converted Dorset-based Dart in 2010 and bragged: “Everything he knew, he studied with me.
“He attended one of my lectures in London to find out about Islam and then he attended everything we had.”
Dart, Imran Mahmood and Jahangir Alom — who was also schooled in extremism by Choudary — were jailed for a total of more than 20 years for terrorist involvement.
Choudary dismissed their guilty pleas by saying: “It was just talk. People say these things all the time, it doesn’t mean they are going to do it.”
But his claims that he does not “condone” violence have been disproved time and again.
As long ago as the wake of 9/11 his group boasted of sending “hundreds” of men into Afghanistan to fight British and American forces.
Choudary also acted as a mentor to his close friend Abdul Rehman Saleem, jailed for inciting racial hatred in 2006.
In 2008 another six of his followers — Shah Hussain, Abdullah Hassan, Abdul Saleem, Simon Keeler, Abdul Muhid, and Omar Brooks — were all convicted of inciting terrorism and terrorist fund-raising.
And only this week he sparked revulsion by declaring the tornado which hit Oklahoma was Allah’s revenge on America for “suppressing” Muslims.
Carry on.......

Fooking Football.
29th May I'm off with the Mrs. and Miss GtE to see Journey Whitesnake and Thunder at Wembley Arena
On the same night I've just realised there's a friendly between England and Ireland at Wembley Stadium.
So there's no chance of driving there and back and the trains are going to be full of drunken idiots.
Bliss

Definitely going 'Double denim' for this one.
Oh, and Bruce?

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Kind of missed the point haven't you! Common denominator in all this one certain Mr Choudary, lets lift and deport or jail him. No you can already see the legal vermin that would queue up to defend his human rights despite the hate he incites yet our good old Brit police and authorities would has per usual take the easy targets.William the White wrote:That story is all about people breaking the law, being convicted and imprisoned.Hoboh wrote:'Human Rights'?The Sun asked Choudary outright if he had brainwashed Adebolajo.

Come down from you idealistic view of the world into the reality of people who will kill you for no other reason than you don't follow their 'true religion' and the place would be a whole lot safer.A police spokesman said: "Following the terrorist incident in Woolwich this week, Hampshire Constabulary is working closely with local partnership groups to safeguard all members of the community. This includes monitoring social networking sites, and we will seek to arrest and prosecute anyone inciting hatred or violence online"
Re: Today I'm angry about.....
y'see - that's simply bollox - big hairy bollox... it seems much more reasonable to assume that the soldier killed last week was killed because he was a soldier - not because he didn't follow Islam...Hoboh wrote: Come down from you idealistic view of the world into the reality of people who will kill you for no other reason than you don't follow their 'true religion' and the place would be a whole lot safer.
also - MOST people killed by terrorists acts attributable to groups described as in some was connected to Islam (however tenuously) are other muslims...

Indeed, and the same has been true of Christians for centuries (even before Martin Luther and the chaps).thebish wrote:y'see - that's simply bollox - big hairy bollox... it seems much more reasonable to assume that the soldier killed last week was killed because he was a soldier - not because he didn't follow Islam...Hoboh wrote: Come down from you idealistic view of the world into the reality of people who will kill you for no other reason than you don't follow their 'true religion' and the place would be a whole lot safer.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
today I am mostly being angry that I have had to spend the entire morning and not a small part of this afternoon sorting out a huge sh*tstorm that has ultimately led to me taking extraordinary measures to have a colleague removed and banned from a very delicate project that is nearing completion... I don't know what kind of mind-altering drugs she was on - but she has utterly and totally shafted the day.. f*cknuggetry so dazzling it would startle a swan!
anyway - i now have a couple of hours before resuming battle with phone calls and emails this evening - and i step out into my garden for some very late lunch - on the first proper sunny, nice day that we have had - and find that every single garden owner within a 10mile radius has brought every piece of heavy loud machinery out of his garage and turned it on.... it sounds like a tank testing range out there!
{sigh}
