Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
went for a walk a wee while ago with the missus across a fairly secluded beach and saw some movement in the rocks... a man was poking a smoky fire with a stick and trying to balance a little saucepan over the flames. nearby was a lady in a short fur coat (and seemingly little else) fiddling with some bags... both looked as if the activity was a little forced... we speculated that they were on the beach for some afternoon nookie and that we had interrupted them, and I said - aye - "fur coat and no knickers"...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:But is it "all mouth and trousers" or "all mouth and no trousers"?Enoch wrote:Quite often I think it means 'all fur coat and no knickers' or somesuch.

the woman promptly bent over to reach for summat and rather spectacularly revealed my surmise to be literally true!

Given some of the other thread comments, please describe "spectacular" in this context.

Young striker at Bradford. Most will know him from Bradfords cup run and game when they beat Villa.thebish wrote:ChrisC wrote:Rumours we are interested in Nahki Wells at Bradford. Only really seen him in the cup and looked the part.

Now, I suppose it could be just me, but I wouldn't know him if he came to my door, in a Bradford City shirt and someone by him pointed at him a large card arrow with "this is Nahki Wells" written on it.
Not even if they showed video from those games if I'm honest.
Literally never heard of him. Bravo to those who have, btw.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Nahki Wells looked decent during the cup run and has obviously proved himself better than a league two standard but if were really interested in finding a reliable goalscorer in the level we're at I'd be apprehensive.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Better than League 2 status, watched him in the recent Play-off final and he was head and shoulders above the rest. Could this be the Wanderers's Wilfred Zaha?
Pfffft.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Seen a bit of him this season, looks decent. Lots do for the odd game at that level though. Seems like he's a bit better than that, a few clubs been looking. Seems like a Dougie type of player on the face of it, though I've not seen a DNA sample analysis...

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
according to the BeN...
WANDERERS have started to investigate other striker options after being given the cold shoulder by Leicester City in their efforts to land Jermaine Beckford.
Firm interest was lodged in the ex-Everton striker less than a week after the season finished, and it was hoped a deal in the region of £1million could be completed quickly.
But despite a clear message at the time from the East Midlands they were willing to do business, defeat against Watford in the play-offs has seen the club cease negotiations completely.
Reports in Leicester suggest the two clubs are haggling over a price for Beckford, but The Bolton News understands no ground has been made for more than a fortnight.
Dougie Freedman is now exploring other options in the market as he looks to bring in two new front men capable of spearheading his attack from the start of next season.

Nixon reported this about a week ago. Basically Leicester are sulking since losing in the playoffs and things have slowed. Wouldn't count it out yet.

Dicks. Didn't even deserve to be in the playoffs.ChrisC wrote:thebish wrote:according to the BeN...

If I were a betting man I'd say they're thinking of ditching Pearson and want to see if the new guy wants to keep a player who has a good goalscoring record and who they've invested a fair bit in.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
edit... they did obviously deserve it because they got enough points and goals. But on recent form they were lucky.

Desperate to get rid apparently due to his high wages.

Desperate to be rid of Pearson or Beckford do you mean ?

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Pearson will be going due to his penchant for scrapping/falling out with players whenever they look at him funny, according to my Leicester fan mate.
I bet his managerial wages are the least of their problems, certainly compared to Sven's.

Not that this negates your mate's view, but a Leicester buddy of mine isn't happy they seem to be thinking of ditching Pearson. "Willing to give benefit of the doubt. Lots of deadwood still to rid. Very young side who will have learned a lot this season. Plus, in his three full seasons we've won League One and reached the play-offs twice. I'd give him another year."LeverEnd wrote:Pearson will be going due to his penchant for scrapping/falling out with players whenever they look at him funny, according to my Leicester fan mate.

As for Beckford, I'm not tearfully tearing down the bunting. Interesting that Iles is sticking to the "two strikers wanted" story, which surely means time's up for one or two incumbents.
