Strange though that it works out thats he's going to get approx £11.5k a week, which I'd have thought he'd have been on more than that with us???? :conf:

Couldn't see him being on much more than that, considering he was signed as back up and was only 19(?).

Plus, he'd probably pay less tax in Italy.. But again, I'm not sure on that without looking.

Besides.... Where would you prefer to live? Florence, or Bolton?

Actually reading this has made me realise that I havent the foggiest idea as to what our players are actually earning? I know when we had Jaidi he was on £8k a week which was a pittance when compared to the rest of the team. But I used to have a general idea about how much each player earned but nowadays, Im just blank.

Paddy Madden cost Yeovil £20k and Carlisle were happy to accept it. #oops As Gary Johnson says, he just needed to be loved, and he sure is now. Doubt he'd move to a club in the same division, might seem a risk for him as much as us.

You don't think a player would jump at the chance to join Bolton from Yeovil?

Not often I disagree with you, but hells bells

Might be worth a look. I saw all 3 of their play off games and he did nowt other than score the winner in the final. Not to be sniffed at, I know. Not sure if he's ready for the step up.
Saw a few Carlisle games earlier in the season and quite liked Madden then. Always lively and looked sharp, but at the same time without ever looking like scoring. If he's added that to his game then maybe he'd be worth a punt. He's at least a different sort of player to what we have at the moment.

All sors of players have changed position at a young age (Ashley Cole went from striker to winger to full-back) but not many after the age Alonso is now. It can happen, but not as often as people seem to want.
Didn't Kevin Phillips switch from fullback to striker in his early twenties?

Wasn't henrik pederson a striker when he joined us,and BSA converted him to a LB (well for a fair few games)

Come to think of it. Wasn't Davo a winger when he was in his late teens iirc

aye! (I think someone posted a pic of Peds above for that very reason) we've had plenty worse left backs than our 'Enrick!

To my mind it matters not where someone is asked to play, only whether or not they can do the job when they get there.

As far as Alonso goes, what I've seen of him he looks a better player going forward than he does going back. He certainly ain't no winger, but he may have done Lee's job as well as Lee did this last term. For all that, since Christmas he probably did his own job as well as anyone else on the books would have.

All water under the bridge though.

Ah, Henrik...

The man who, instead of shooting and scoring the winner against Chelsea in injury time, decided it would be better all round if he kicked it into John Terry to make him score an own goal. Now there is selflessness in the name of a good cause - humiliation of a prat.

I miss him.

We do all seem to be forgetting that Henrik was shit at LB! Less shit than anticipated, by some distance, hence the fond memories, but shit all the same. That said, was he any less shit than he was up front? I'm not sure. I may have defeated my whole point.

I'm not saying you can't convert anyone, ever, just that it isn't as easy as just reckoning someone would be good somewhere and then sticking them there like folk want to do every time we get a player they want to like, but isn't good enough in his actual position.

No one, but no one could ever do anything to reduce HP to less than hero status for me. If for no more than some classic goals (chest down and volley against Arsenal anyone?) and the fact that away from home, when the likes of Nolan and Stelios et al would just walk off the pitch, Henrik always made his way over to the fans. The bloke never gave anything less than 100% in a white shirt.

I think you'll find that, according to BWFCi, in general our fans know nowt. I think, in this instance, he's bob-on.
