Yeah OK, and I'll do the same when I get home. I've got some green shoots poking out so I guess everything's going to plan.thebish wrote:how're the spuds coming on Brucie?
will pop down the garden and photo mine for comparison sake! (i think we put them in at roughly the same time..)

Yes but the Bish's are residing in a softy southern climate, all pampered and warm. Your's are in a harsh northern hell under the jackbooted heel of Jack Frost.Bruce Rioja wrote:Yeah OK, and I'll do the same when I get home. I'd have thought that they get enough watering, but yes, I do add to it.thebish wrote:have you fed them or watered them?Bruce Rioja wrote:![]()

Ah. Excellent news. And yes, northern spuds have that earthy taste of milltown grit that you just don't get with the perfumed-ponce taters from the Softy Walter south.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: According to my RHS map up to a four week difference. Cheer up, northern spuds taste better.

Are you going to protect it with a fruit cider trap though? Do you possess pink wellingtons even?thebish wrote:i was at B&Q today to buy a new letterbox... postie tried to ram too much bulkage through it today and it fell apart!!

i was thinking of Bruce with the fruit cider - as he must now have a surplus of the stuff to dispose of! do you think such a trap would protect my new letterbox? (my missus actually does have pink wellingtons - though I have never see her wear them in the garden... only to walk the dog around the lake where we used to live..)

Re: The Gardening Bed
What varieties have you gentlemen -planted? That'll make a big difference to progress. My charlotte's always took a while to get going then went mental. My golden wonders produced loads of foliage and about 3 potatoes

Re: The Gardening Bed
I think mine are Maris Piper...Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:What varieties have you gentlemen -planted? That'll make a big difference to progress. My charlotte's always took a while to get going then went mental. My golden wonders produced loads of foliage and about 3 potatoes
