Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I still see MD at the head of that central triangle, but it should be fluid enough for him to drop deep while runners bomb on.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Mark Davies often playing deep is the ideal role for him.
I noticed in recent seasons we've been easily nullified and had to lump it upfield when they pressed our defense and prevented us from fielding an outlet in midfield. Mavies is the best player at receiving it with his back to midfield and then turning and finding a winger or fellow midfielder.

I am very excited about the idea of signing Alex Baptiste, he will be better than any of the sh*te we have playing at the back at the moment. H e reminds me of Faye and Meite and they were probably our best centre back pairing we have ever had so I would love to sign Baptiste.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

Would be my choice. Obviously we need someone to replace Mark Davies though and it looks like we're in the market for at least one new striker.
The best I saw us play last season was in the second half against Huddersfield away, when Mark Davies, Eagles and LCY all combined and took them apart. Although that day it was more like the three of them playing in a flat three up top, with Kev lagging about 15 yards behind.

Agreed an all counts. Just not as convinced as most that the "pick" is Eagles or Mavies.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Worthy4England wrote:No sir, not as a centre forward. Trouble is, if you only have one up top he has to be pacy (so the defence doesn't pay a high line to strangle your midfield) and a very willing runner, so Klas would strike out twice there. Oh, and your frontman would also have to contribute a lot of goals - unless your midfielders all chip in a fair few (eg Allardyce's Euro-qualifying Wanderers). Which is why I wouldn't be pleased to see Eagles fly the nest; he and Mark Davies could both fit in a fluid 4-2-3-1, although I'm yet to be convinced we have the complete '1'.
Mavies I think should be at the front of the three, but he too flatters to deceive too often for me although he undoubtedly has some talent, Spearing would be good to get back. And yes - we probably still have a missing link on the "1".

Like a little baby 'Scholes'......................
and I'm not being facitious......
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I'd have Craig Davies over Sordell, to start most games, but I think they each offer different things. But that '3' with a fully fit Holden (or a returning Spearing) plus Medo is flipping tasty. I think there's a case in certain circumstances, certainly until Mavies is back, for N'Gog in as the link man, in a more standard 4-4-2.Tombwfc wrote:-LCY------Davies------Eagles-

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I know you're being daft here Dan but a Blackpool fan I was speaking to the other day reckons we've signed a cracker here. He described him as their most influential player over the last couple of seasons, more so even than Ince. Apparently, he's a very good distributor of the ball when bringing it out from the back and plays well at both full back & centre halfbwfcdan94 wrote:I am very excited about the idea of signing Alex Baptiste, he will be better than any of the sh*te we have playing at the back at the moment. Didn't even realise that we were interested in Emnes. Don't know enough about him to be honest

Aye, just checked out his stats and 23 goals in 123 games is not brilliant.Vertigo wrote:Quite average from what I've seen. Have enough of that atm.

I got the distinct impression that Emnes wasn't his favourite player! When I further enquired about him, my mate said "Well he can run!"Lost Leopard Spot wrote:oooof!PC1978 wrote:Just told my 'boro supporting mate about this and he jumped up and cheered. Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
We can't afford top replace the Eagles we had last season. Don't get it that people aren't arsed about seeing him go to be honest. Can't be certain, but I read a stat that only 2 players won more points for their team last season that Eagles did for us.. Think Murray was one of them.
