In two hours and fifteen minutes, I have an interview for a job that I'm not sure if I want and can hardly be bothered turning up for. Something however, is urging me to go. So, sack the dark suit off, I won't be wearing a tie and they can either love my tan brogues or hate them
This could either go very well or be a spectacular disaster and I may well therefore, be making a contribution to the happy or angry threads later on today.

WTF has happened to Tango?
Has he been overcome by nicotine addiction relief?
Somebody nip round his house and make sure he's still breathing.

Weather, family visiting, dining al fresco and gardening have all conspired to keep me away from the Gorgon box. Lawns and paths all sorted etc, even ventured out shopping a couple of times. Oh, and please don't mention cigs. Three weeks now and it's really hard at times. I'm managing so far though...CrazyHorse wrote:Don't panic, he was online two hours ago. If it is any consolation you are already over the worst of the withdrawal. I'm not sure how much nicotine these e-(unmentionable things) give you. You didn't mention your wife. She gave up with you last time. Did she falter? Is she with you now?TANGODANCER wrote:Weather, family visiting, dining al fresco and gardening have all conspired to keep me away from the Gorgon box. Wife's ahead of me and leading the way; two months this week since she quit. The unmentionable things give you a choice of nicotine from strong to comparatively weak. I'll get there.Montreal Wanderer wrote: If it is any consolation you are already over the worst of the withdrawal. I'm not sure how much nicotine these e-(unmentionable things) give you. It can be done but it is good to avoid too much alcohol for a while. Good for Mrs T.TANGODANCER wrote:Wife's ahead of me and leading the way; two months this week since she quit. I disagree. Alcohol is good, the more the better... well, within limits obviously.Montreal Wanderer wrote:It can be done but it is good to avoid too much alcohol for a while. So you have said a couple of times. My experience in quitting smoking has been if one goes out with friends and drinks a lot someone will offer you a cigarette and, with impaired judgement, you take it - along with a few others and you are hooked again. So I suggest avoiding alcohol early in the quitting stage. That's all.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I disagree. My experience was such that in order to fully break the nicotine demon it was best to face it full on. Not only does the addiction lie within the drug, but where one smoked it and what one did with one's hands. I found it was best to follow a 'normal' routine otherwise if you followed an abnormal lifestyle but then took the normal routine up later it was at that point that you lapse back into the habits previously held in that environment, and there was no worse environment than down the pub. Hence why I think it helped me to successfully conquer a very bad habit.Montreal Wanderer wrote:So you have said a couple of times. I had a 60+ a day habit. I tried to give up once and failed after eight hours. The second time I was determined not to fail, and it's (now) been many many years since I managed to give up. Part of the reason why I only needed to try twice was because on the second attempt I eschewed the normal advice of not going in pubs and instead I faced the perils head on. It was worse at the time but in the end a stronger character forming experience. I now no longer crave fags, but I knew once I'd cracked the first day (on the second attempt) after deliberately going down to my local and facing down all temptation that although the craving still resurfaced for many months afterwards that by then I was fully cured.
