Got in from a run and having a beer with Rory Gallagher's Top Priority. Classic blues rock guitar.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Great song. I first heard it when it featured in an impressive scene (youtube it) from The Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles TV series. Not one of his better known but lyrically and musically a great song.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Good God. Just discovered The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash. Ab so lu tel ee stunning.

The song, and the album. I'm going to have to listen to the other ones he did in the American series.LeverEnd wrote:Great song. Re: What are you playing tonight?
I quite like hearing the odd Johnny Cash song in isolation, but the thought of hearing him sing for two or more consecutive songs isn't something that appeals to me at all.

One is an excellent cover, not as good as Nine Inch Nails 'Hurt' though, possibly the greatest cover version I've ever heard and a genuinely touching video.Il Pirate wrote:Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Good God. Just discovered The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash. Ab so lu tel ee stunning.

Re: What are you playing tonight?
what do you think LLS? If you like acoustic based songs & appreciate some good playing, check out 'Keith don't go' (on live in/from Copenhagen iirc) by Nils Lofgren. You can also see him play a version of it in his studio on youtube.

Keep an eye out for 'Til Things Are Brighter. It was a compilation of all the classics but covered for The Terrence Higgins Trust by a diverse bunch including Michelle Shocked, The Mekons, Pete Shelley and Marc Riley.Bruce Rioja wrote:I quite like hearing the odd Johnny Cash song in isolation, but the thought of hearing him sing for two or more consecutive songs isn't something that appeals to me at all.
In fact, why read me prattling on about it when there's an article here

and there's a couple of Youtube links to tracks in this article

Re: What are you playing tonight?
today I am mostly listening to X-ray Spex Germ Free Adolescents..... cos I'm THAT cool!

Re: What are you playing tonight?
Talking of X-Ray Spex, this punk classic was screened a couple of weeks ago on BBC Four in a repeat episode of TOTP from 1978 alongside the likes of Brotherhood of Man and Elkie Brooks, who probably inhabit a some sort of beige coloured world. They then cut to David Soul who was introducing the next tune. He just looked confused. Bonus points to anyone who can understand a single word Poly Styrene is saying.

No bonus points here then - but what a cracking tune. I don't remember that one at all.BL3 wrote: Bonus points to anyone who can understand a single word Poly Styrene is saying.

Re: What are you playing tonight?
Any of you hip and happening crazy cats familiar with a band from Warrington called Exile Parade? They're currently being touted, by some, to be destined for big things. They sound like an Oasis tribute band to me.
