Nah, save Wigan. First game's big enough anyway. Just some winnable games to get the wagon rolling...

Anyone for me - we have to play 'em all twice.
Might be good to get QPR early though as they might have 11 people that only met the week before...

The beauty of division 2 is the fact they are all winnable. Whether we do so is another matterDave Sutton's barnet wrote:Just some winnable games to get the wagon rolling...

Re: Two weeks till the fixtures are out?
When I was a lad football used to go away for the summer when me and my chums would spend the long sunny days building rafts, travelling the water ways of the Mississippi and solving crimes involving escaped slaves.
It's hard for you kids to imagine these days when football fills the back pages of the papers 365 days a year but for a couple of months there was nothing until late july when the BEN would print a few pictures of a muddy Julian Darby walking around the Bolton Dog Track laughing with perhaps a Gary Henshaw or two.
Around this time the fixtures used to come out and me and my chums would sit down, pens in one hand, ham and tomato sandwiches and glasses of Ginger Beer in the other and work out the forthcoming seasons results and attendances.
I remember one year by Christmas Bolton were top of Division 3, unbeaten and attracting over 40,000 fans per week to Burnden Park.
Needless to say we went down that year.
Do kids still do this?

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Made me laugh that. When we were kids Barrow Bridge still had a boating lake, but summer was the cricket season when we slaughtered the West Indies and the Aussies on Holy Harbour.coffeymagic wrote:When I was a lad football used to go away for the summer when me and my chums would spend the long sunny days building rafts, travelling the water ways of the Mississippi and solving crimes involving escaped slaves.

living at the top end of Horwich when we weren't playing footy or cricket or building dams or playing on the railways we were up Rivi being Robin Hood with our own full scale castle.
I told my lads, born & bred in a far more politically correct age, that we played 'war games' which we called Japs & English. Their jaws dropped. {Mind you, the look I get when I ask if anyone fancies a Chinky is a sight to behold}.
eeeh, we were poor, but we were happy !!.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Sorry to ruin it all but we used to play 'out' constantly, all summer. We had the Playstation, but no-one cool played it when you could be out playing real football.
