Hollowaaaaay! <shakes fist>

Baptiste has apparently already turned down Hull, but he may wish to rejoin Ollie. Mind you, he very well may not. Possibly geographically - he's never played further south than Mansfield, his hometown first club.

Oh and in the BN, DF insists AB is a RB - while "Wanderers sources strongly deny" the potential Palace hijack.
Once everything is sorted, I am signing him as a right-back, 100 per cent. He can play in other positions but I feel that is the position where he would be of best value to the team. Alex will come here because he wants to be here, nothing else,” he said. “He had very good offers from clubs elsewhere. I want to bring him here because he has experience, he has played in the Premier League and he is a leader – someone who captained Blackpool last season.
And on Tierney:
Marc has got the right character, he has got good experience and has played in the Premier League so I'm delighted to have got him. He had options and other places he could have gone but the fact is he wanted to come here, and that is very important.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

DOUGIE Freedman has confirmed that Alex Baptiste will be signed as a right-back, once his move from Blackpool is officially rubber-stamped.

Wanderers fans are waiting anxiously for confirmation of the signing of the 27-year-old defender, who is currently in the final throes of his contract at Bloomfield Road and negotiating a way to link-up with his new club slightly earlier than planned.

Baptiste played in three different positions across the back line for the Seasiders last season but Freedman has rubbished any talk that he arrives at the Reebok as a “utility man.”

“Once everything is sorted, I am signing him as a right-back, 100 per cent,” he told The Bolton News.

“He can play in other positions but I feel that is the position where he would be of best value to the team.”

Baptiste’s arrival raises instant questions about the future of last season’s right-backs, Sam Ricketts and Tyrone Mears, or even youngster Joe Riley, whose campaign was blighted by injury.

Freedman beat a host of Premier League and Championship clubs to land the Mansfield-born defender but insists he has not paid over the odds to bring him to the club.

Derby County chief executive Sam Rush described the player’s wage demands as “eye-watering” but the Wanderers boss says the deal is well within his club’s means.

“Alex will come here because he wants to be here, nothing else,” he said. “He had very good offers from clubs elsewhere.

“I want to bring him here because he has experience, he has played in the Premier League and he is a leader – someone who captained Blackpool last season.”

A rumour circulated yesterday claiming Crystal Palace had tried to take advantage of the fact Baptiste’s move had not been officially confirmed by hijacking the deal – but the news was strongly denied by Wanderers sources.

The signing of left-back Marc Tierney from Norwich City is certainly done and dusted and Freedman believes the fact he also turned down more lucrative offers from elsewhere underlines his desire to play for Wanderers.

“Marc has got the right character, he has got good experience and has played in the Premier League so I'm delighted to have got him,” he added. “He had options and other places he could have gone but the fact is he wanted to come here, and that is very important.”

Noticed Beckford scored for Jamaica last night. Simple headed goal.

Cardiff manager Malky Mackay will target Bolton midfielder Chris Eagles as he begins preparing for life in the Premier League.

Mackay fancies making Eagles - who he played alongside at Watford seven years ago - his first summer signing.

Former Manchester United youngster Eagles has come under fire from his own fans at the Reebok and wants out of the Championship club.

The 27-year-old's £2million valuation also fits in with the kind of bargain-buy shopping Cardiff's Malaysian owner Vincent Tan has in mind.
I said this a week or so back.. Can't see us letting him go for anything less than 4/5 million. Would rather keep him but I think there has been enough debate on this already from TW members

I think that is from speculation during the season. Chris did an interview denying it though, saying he loved being here.

Has he also only just signed a new contract? Maybe along the same lines as Sparky?
Pfffft.

There is that

Personally I think we should hold onto him, on form there's not alot to match him in this league, next season IMO, he will be even better than the last

I know you're being daft here Dan but a Blackpool fan I was speaking to the other day reckons we've signed a cracker here. He described him as their most influential player over the last couple of seasons, more so even than Ince. Apparently, he's a very good distributor of the ball when bringing it out from the back and plays well at both full back & centre half
I have also heard though that he does have a mistake in him. :vomit: , haven't we got enough of them already?
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

What were you expecting Dan, Sergio Ramos and Pujol to be hammering the door down to sign up?
