I had to endure two and a half hours of Glen Campbell live in the name of love. Got my own back by having a right dind-dong with a woman who insisted on singing along to every song at the top of her less than tuneful voice. We didn't actually get thrown out, but came very close. I came out with those imortal words: "I've paid to hear him sing; If I wanted to hear a wolf howling I'd have gone to the friggin zoo". At least I got her down to a mumble.

There was me, sat there thinking 'and what the feck have they dragged this one on for?' and I have to say I was absolutely blown away. I'd no idea that he has such a fine singing voice or that he's a very competent guitarist. The tightness and proficiency of his band was simply awesome.

It was very early on Bruce (not long after his Beach Boy days, at Southport Winter Gardens) and in fairness I probably enjoyed it (but for Marganita Prakatan behind me). I knew he could play guitar but haven't heard him in years. I was more into Ralph McTell, Bert Jansch and all that fascinating folky alternate tuning stuff back then. Maddy Prior, Pentangle, Steeleye Span and all that. So many good guitarist about .
