Really enjoying the footage from gateshead. Some great performances, particularly from some of the younger lesser-known women.

Scabs are still there, pretty much as in the photo but drier and flakier. Healing nicely, just itches now. Ta.

Just back from the trail relay at Witton Park, bloody hard work! 3.75k legs, 150m climb. In the rain, character building. I need to learn not to be a soft lad and take the brakes off on the steep downhills. And get fit enough to run faster uphill!
Nearest I've come yet to a fell race, might hold off a bit. LLS' leg has scared me.

Had a horrible race yesterday. Felt unwell before the start but went off anyway. Got caught up early on behind slower runners so tried to catch up. 2k time was 8:35, 5k was 22ish. Then I hit the wall. Couldn't maintain the pace and ended up doing 47:00 for the 10k.

Had a slow 4 mile jog round the park tonight to console myself.

I just write those kind of races off and consider them as training. Leverhulme Parkrun again tomorrow but sore from the downhills last night so not expecting much. Promised my niece I'd go though so have to meet her and my sis.
Will defintely run quicker than my first attempt though, and will sellotape my barcode so I get in the results!

Sometimes you wish you'd just left your watch at home - sure it wont be anything but a bad day at the office, and there are hundreds of runners out there who would be delighted at 47mins as a 10k time. It's all time on the legs.

Good luck with the Park run LE - you set the bar high last time.

Going to attempt 4miles tomorrow as part of my slow comeback.

Wow! Fantastic time and very close to sub 19. Great effort.

Went to spin class today. My God it were tough. The instructor was a right sadistic bitch with what seemed like a collection of old 78s that she was screaming at us to keep up with. Totally spent at the end.

Football tournament for me today, not very many matches played as several teams pulled out but considering the weather I'm quite grateful. Was knackered after the first game! It was boiling. Good to e playing again though.

Thanks for that. Need to get back to doing some spinning myself. Last time I went the instructor tried to tell me I wasn't allowed to do it without a water bottle! I pointed out that I've been a competitive distance runner for 20 years plus, and am well aware of how to hydrate. Then convinced her after a little standoff that I would take full responsibility if I keeled over mid session, whilst trying not to appear sarcastic and condascending.
People are obsessed with water bottles, like those running parkrun in cold weather clutching one of those handle type things. Ridiculous.

never mind that - apparently you absolutely totally need one if going on a 20min London Underground journey too...

You and me both! Did weights, squats etc after the parkrun (was feeling a bit keen). Struggled to tie my shoelaces this morning. Just jogged 4 miles, still really feeling it. Done nothing for ages though, my own fault! Track session tomorrow, hoping I'll have eased off a bit.
Feels good to be aching for a proper reason though.

Ouch! Sounds like hard work to me.

I have a poorly knee too - someone clattered it (and also minor sunburn but that may be my own fault!)

Not properly injured GG. Just a bit sore after jumping back into training a bit quick after a year of being lazy.

Sore shoulders this morning and a chafed neck.

Open water swim at Lea Valley and I did 1.75 km. I've never swum that far before but I'm happy as it's further than I need to do for the Olympic distance at Clacton in September.

Love the wetsuit! :D
