Often see Diouf in there, had his Leeds mates with him last time, Tonge and someone else. Dowie turns up there a lot as well although he doesn't count as he has never worn the shirt.
Seeing Diouf dressed like a cartoon version of 50 cent amongst all the Young Conservative types was mildly amusing I suppose.

It was, "back in the day" (apologies) virtually Bolton School's 6th form social centre. A few 'other school' wallah's like myself and the Markland Hill 'tennis set'.

There was some very acceptable totty available (and I DO mean "available") and there was never the faintest danger of not getting served ... other than in the sense of it being so full you could barely get to the bar and so buying a double round was advisable.

When I was in 5th/6th form (early 90s) it was always The Blue Boar and The Old Three Crowns in town for underage drinking (and the magnificent Pink Panther). But then I lived in Great Lever so was too scared to go to most of my locals, except the Brooklyn!

Had my first pint at the Bob Smithies, 14 years old in 1966, there was about 10 of us walked from town centre because someone told us they'd serve anyone with no questions asked. spent a fair bit of time there after that.

Couple of hours later, Man & Scythe, Old Three, Blue Boar and maybe end up at that club on Spa Road, I forget that name too...

I was actually a member of Markland Hill (junior and senior) until about 1968. I'm not sure what era you refer to Bobo, but I may have known the acceptable totty....

Yep Hawthorns, I miss the place. Everyone used to slate it til it was gone.
I used to work the kitchens matchdays at Burnden in the appallingly named 'Executive Suite' then 3 Crowns at night. Really enjoyed working both jobs. Before that I worked at Chester Moonshines for the bloko who modeled himself on George Michael and went on Stars In Their Eyes!
