Good stuff, couple of rusty ones out of the way and you'll be back in the swing.Harry Genshaw wrote:Just been out and managed 6 achy wheezy miles. Its a start thoughGooner Girl wrote:First run tonight in several weeks. Dreading it!
I'm erring on the side of caution after going at it like a bull in a china shop for the last 2 weeks, resting the hamstring. Just ate 3 of the 5 jam doughnuts I bought. Other 2 will keep til breakfast! Easy run home from work tomorrow, 5 milesish, jog parkrun with my niece sat morn then racing Lytham Carnival 5k Sunday morn. Good race, did it a few years ago.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Alright, you super speedy lot, rub it in. I only did 2.5 and that was enough. My running partner left me for dead a bit tonight and I thought I was being super slow, turns out she was actually far faster then normal so I improved my time attempting to keep up with her. Reckon that deserves Leverends other 2 doughnuts...
Really need to get out more then once a week to make any progress. Someone nag me into going at the weekend.

I'm up for a flying visit on Saturday. May try and make the Park Run if I can.

Re: The athletics/running thread
I won't be competing against LE, but myself. If I can break 22 minutes I'll be ecstatic on that course.
Re: The athletics/running thread
I'm trying to help my niece break 27, promised to run the whole way with her with a view to racing hard the next day in Lytham (hamstring permitting). It is a stinker of a course it must be said. I've been running up and down those hills for nearly 30 years and they get no easier. I'd fancy myself to knock at least a minute off on a road course in racing flats.Gary the Enfield wrote:I won't be competing against LE, but myself. I may actually be dragged into our track team to run 5000m at Sportcity in the Northern League on Sunday due to a chronic shortage of distance runners but I sincerely hope not as I don't enjoy getting soundly whupped!

Good luck with that. Unfortunately I won't make Park Run now as I'm driving up tomorrow am instead of tonight.

Another time. I taske it you live in Enfield then? Doing my best to dodge the track race.Gary the Enfield wrote:LeverEnd wrote:I'm trying to help my niece break 27, promised to run the whole way with her with a view to racing hard the next day in Lytham (hamstring permitting). Indeed.
I hate track too.
Re: The athletics/running thread
I love running on the track when I'm in shape for it, but I'm blatantly not right now. More suited to long road races though due to a lack of speed over 800/1500m.

Re: The athletics/running thread
You should get yourself into field athletics, far more fun.

Re: The athletics/running thread
I once putted the shot 8 metres to fill in a gap on the team. And also high jumped 1.40m. The hammer I managed to heave just about clear of the cage.Gooner Girl wrote:You should get yourself into field athletics, far more fun.
Maybe I should stick to to plodding!

Only 5cm less then my high jump pb, but then, as GtE will tell you, I'm a short arse.LeverEnd wrote:I once putted the shot 8 metres to fill in a gap on the team. And also high jumped 1.40m.
