Wheater is comfortably better than Ream and Knight. He's slow and immobile, but he can actually defend, Wheater+1 for me, ta.

Wheater is a very good defender probably one of the better ones of recent years, Ream is a dud and just generally sh*t, Knightmare is the worst player our club has ever had IMO.

Maybe we could get Insano and Dan ST's near each other and re-christen (rededicate for all you godless out there) part of the ground the Hyperbole Stand.

You are clearly a young supporter as most of the team under Phil Neal where awful, probably the reason we only used to get 2-3k for home matches back in the dark ages!! Knight & Wheater are limited but more than adequate for this league!! Ream has been shown to be not very good under the previous regime, I would be interested to see if the current team could improve his abilities?

Dan maybe a history of BWFC book maybe good reading this summer!!

I have got one actually and gone through most of it and while I have read about those dark days in the forth tier and dropping down to that level with the defeat at Gillingham. However I think Zat cannot be trusted to play football for his life let alone for Bolton.

Have you not heard about the new bowling alley they're building under the West Stand?.

To add some flesh to the bones of that rumour, I can reveal it will be called White Hot Lanes. I gather that Daniel Levy is one of the major players in the venture.

Beckford still coming, but this time on a "free".

I don't understand football any more.

Blackburn have agreed a fee to sign Spearing for 1.5 million but cant fund it until they sell a player. Mainly waiting for Olsson to move to Norwich.

We should take him now before they can stump up the cash. He is a bargain at that price IMO!

Liverpool have agreed to sell home-grown star Jay Spearing to Blackburn Rovers in a £1.5million deal.

Boss Brendan Rodgers will let midfield dynamo Spearing leave and the Kop have struck a payment plan with Rovers.

Now Blackburn’s Indian owners Venkys are under pressure to push through the move quickly - although they may have to sell a player first to complete.

Rovers want Spearing to fill the gap left by Danny Murphy, but they were expecting cash from Martin Olsson’s move to Norwich to pay for his replacement.

Olsson is yet to finalise personal terms on a £2.5 million switch to the Canaries. The alternative is for Venkys to find the Spearing funds from their own pockets.

Just remembered, we have saved 1 million on the Beckford deal so we are more than halfway to the 1.5 million for Spearing!

Leicester won't be turning down a million quid for nowt. That money will go to Beckford to pay off some of his contract that Leicester owe.

That's how the deal will be done now I suspect. We certainly won't be benefitting Leicester just won't want to pay that final year in full.

Yeah, I can't imagine his wage demands have remained static now he knows we've got brass in pocket.

With or without that money, we should be in for Spearing at that price.

The reluctance to push for a Spearing transfer is probably confirmation that Freedman has been impressed with Holden. I would have liked Spearing to join us but Holden, Medo, Andrews, Pratley and Vela are all trying to get one of two positions in the team. If Holden returns to a good level of fitness, he'd be too good for the bench and so would Spearing, so it'd be £1.5m and a fair amount on wages on a player who isn't guaranteed to start.

If Holden is fit, I'm fine with him and Medo being our first choice central midfield partnership, with Andrews, Pratley and Vela offering rotation. We don't need more quality than that for this league. Spearing would have been great but I'd rather that money went towards someone who is guaranteed to start every week, in particular a striker or a defender.

In saying all that, I think we have a few too many strikers right now. When Mark Davies returns, or even before then, it's likely we'll only play with one striker yet we have N'Gog, Sordell, Davies and Eaves, with Beckford liking joining us too, and then a couple of young players like Odelusi. For perhaps one starting position, that's a lot of depth and there's no obvious candidate to start either. N'Gog is probably the best player but he isn't a goalscorer and whilst Davies offers a bit of everything, he's not good enough in any area for me. Beckford is the most potent striker of the lot but he's aging and lazy, then there's Sordell who goes missing in most games. I'd rather we saved any money from other deals and just found one, quality striker who you can rely on. We might have 7 strikers next week and none of them are reliable or consistent.

How do you know Beckford is lazy?
