Cowan out first ball! hat-trick ball coming for Finn.

If both these teams carry on batting like this all the tests will be over within three days.

wouldn't go that far, Finn can count himself lucky to get Cowan's wicket. thrown away.

Anderson is up there though, easily.

Tale of the day is batsmen throwing their wickets away.

Finn is erratic but on his day hard to play. Same with Broad.

And then there is the best spinner around.....

I don't understand what any of this means. Have England whitewashed 5-0 yet or not?

Meanwhile, in a real top-of-the-table clash in County cricket Lancs have Northants struggling. Having gained a first innings lead of 130 they have Northants at 108-4 with a day left.

Over half of our wickets were poor shots, it was poor batting just about everyone agrees. Yes the Aussies bowled some decent balls but equally we were knocking them round the park at times. Practically everyone on TMS for example felt we batted poorly.

Now, I know not a lot about cricket, but this assumption I can make, when a striker is one on one with a goalie it is up to the striker to score, usually they should, when they don't that is either down to the goalie being brilliant (or fantastically lucky) or the striker performing shittily.
My question, knowing nothing about creeekeeeet is, is it not the same but backwards, should not the batsmen alway be expected to play or block the ball and the bowler to be in the same position as a goalie in soccer? Yes?, No?

Depends on events suiting Insaney's preferred take on it.

I liked the look of that Agar lad for the Aussies not saying he is going to be the next Warne or anything (mainly because he is an off spinner rather then a leggie) but he looked good.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

I agree with you, Dan. Prior to this test he'd only played ten first-class games. I know sweet FA about him. Clarke must trust him as he threw him in at the deep end very early. I was impressed with his field skills as well. Sure, he only bowled seven overs but for a teenager with his first test match being part of an Ashes series he comported himself very well. After that first ball - some sort of looping full toss - I thought the England batsmen were about to have a right old field day. He's obviously made of sterner stuff than is my confidence.

As to the rest of the game to date? Well, erm, well, yes and no, erm, WTF! :conf:

Both sets of batsmen (to date) were pretty ordinary. The Australia bowlers, at least to start with, were woeful; wayward hardly describes it. Should they have tightened up things a bit (read 'a lot') England would not have made as many runs as they did. Then the Australia batsmen - what can you say? Ducks x 2 in the first few overs augurs well for England. Phil Hughes still not out is a strange one to me; he could turn around and score a double century or he could dink the silliest of shots back to the bowler.

Ah well, if nothing else, it looks like today's play should be interesting.
