When your allowances or tax owed > personal allowance. You get a "negative" allowance code.

Also get them when you're on the sliding scale > £100k per annum earnings (in previous years and £150k this year)

That's the joy of "K" tax codes. :-)

Had a lovely week enjoying the sunshine with the kids and just feeling pretty chilled out. Heck, I may even go for a run this evening!

Oh! I had a T code once, and a V code for a little while, but mostly I'm a rather run of the mill L code.

Found out the local pub is run by a family of Bolton fans ! I am not a drinker but I will certainly go in for a chat and a coke every now and again.

Had a look on Image Search. Some of them actually look quite good. Is being invited round for dinner by a veggie not unlike getting invited round for a drink by a tea-totalier? :?

That is a good analogy. Every six months or so I have to steel myself. Last time was something described as a nut bake. I ask you! Nut bake. Normal people don't eat nuts as a main meal. What was worse was that instead of the iron crunch of nuts breaking my teeth as I'd feared, it turned out to be a squelchy affair with the aroma of silage and the taste of coal tar soap - the most disgusting meal I've ever had to try and force down. Luckily their dog loved it so I surreptitiously fed most of it to her.

Anyway last night's homity pie wasn't too bad. Not great, but not horrible either. The gravy on the other hand was pants. As a concession to our carnivorous tastes it had been lovingly made from dishwater some sun dried organic green flakes and a chicken flavour oxo cube.

As a surprise we were also offered a starter dish of tofu. I almost told her to go fxck herself, but refrained, and actually I really quite liked it. The tofu was sat steaming in a quite remarkable ramen style broth - made with real whitebait. The only offputting thing was the way our hosts sat and intently stared at us like specimens who had stepped off an alien spacecraft as we sucked up the soup and tofu and they sat in identical poses with hands firmly clenched in laps and empty mats before them devoid of bowls. I suppose it was a small price to pay having caused them to defile their kitchen with animal products (some fish and an oxo cube).

But overall, yes I was pleasantly surprised and therefore went home very happy. When next it is our turn to invite them round I think I shall inveigle my missus to add lardons or other inappropriate additives to their dish - on a mission to convert them now. (Trouble is I'm fully emboldened right now, but my resolve will wither in the fullness of time, I know it).

Oh, and that's the other thing - they are tee-total. I have to take my own beer with me. My missus (the turncoat) is happy to sit and imbibe juniper water or whatever the stuff is that they are tippling. It's very hard to keep sober when you're the only one drinking alcohol - it forces you to get pissed faster than you would otherwise, it's a law of nature.

Or a bacon butty. :D
The smell of bacon can break the will of even the most militant veggie.

A former GF of mine claimed to be a veggie. Always found wanting when put to the bacon butty test.

unfortunately the whitebait had beeen reduced to their constituent juices. I spotted a few eyes floating about as tiny black specks but most of the flesh had been liquefied.
