Anyway we've signed Moritiz, probably not bad cheap squad player.
I'm being slow today. Is this actually done or just some leg pulling? Even Twitter is behind you two.ChrisC wrote:Done dealChrisC wrote:Andre Moritz has left Palace today after refusing to resign because they wont guarantee him a starting place. Put your house on Dougie signing him. Mark Davies type player so will do be snapped up no doubt.

Moritiz will start next season and will be one of our best players next season, no way is he a squad player.Michael Ricketts P45 wrote:Truth is Dougie did offer me five deep fried Mars bars and a black card for Nandos so how could I resist? This morning's "Sky sources" (ie Twitter) andom transfer name generator: Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
Sky Sports wrote:Sky Sports understands a number of English clubs are tracking AZ Alkmaar winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
The Iceland international joined AZ on a five-year contract in 2009 after previously attracting the interest of German side Hamburg.
Prior to moving to the Netherlands, the 22-year-old also took in a trial spell with Coventry City in late 2008.
Gudmundsson could now have the opportunity to secure a move to English football, with several Championship clubs understood to be interested.
Reports have suggested that the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest and Wigan Athletic are all keeping tabs on Gudmundsson's situation with AZ.

That's a name that sounds like someone at Sky has been playing old school Championship Manager and has scouted Scandinavian players.

Can't see any confirmation on Moritz. Where is it saying it's a done deal?
(I'm going to get 'Nixon' as a reply, aren't I?)

BN (I know) says he's set for talks but no deal done yet. Anyone else?
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
No quotes in the BN. He also says that on twitter and then 2 minutes later says he is not sure if Moritz will make a show in tonight's game. Make your mind up Iles!Gary the Enfield wrote:mrkint wrote:Can't see any confirmation on Moritz. Where is it saying it's a done deal?

Nixon
@surreywhite @sgbwfc Moritz is in to sign. Deal agreed with manager.
@JRNbwfc @BWFCBarry Right now it's one at a time. Moritz dirt cheap. Then look at Spearing.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Thing is these deals aren't a five minute job. I'm sure that Nixon has been told by Dougie that a deal is agreed and Moritz is in to sign.
That doesn't mean every aspect of a contract has been fine tuned and he will have to have a medical.
So Moritz probably won't be officially confirmed till the end of the week possibly next week.
Beckford was in to sign and did, but there is still a problem with some financial aspect of his deal according to Nixon. And he was training with us yesterday.
So the club are hardly going to say to Iles that Moritz is all agreed at this stage because even if he broadly is, they won't want the local press jumping the gun.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Moritz, being a free agent, could play tonight without either party signing a thing.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I suppose he could. Clubs often field triallists in these games. The again he might read about Chungy and Mears in previous years and decide to wait to sign a contract before risking himself!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Moritz, being a free agent, could play tonight without either party signing a thing.
Would be good to see a bit of Brazilian flair at the club, been a while since ther days of Zico Kelly and Jiminho.

The thought that Freedman has anything whatsoever to do with Nixon tickles me.

Veloso has agreed a contract in principle, as has Rivaldo and Dado Prso.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
It looks like we're going to sign Beckford but according to Nixon, we still have interest in Rhodes, Austin is on our shortlist and then there's this "foreign attacker" who we're in for too. I did think we needed to strengthen that area after last season but if we bring in two more strikers, I'm worried we'll have too many in our squad. We'll have N'Gog, Sordell, Davies, Eaves, Beckford, Rhodes/Austin/foreign striker and then a couple of young players on top of them, so I don't know if there's going to be a good balance there. Moritz left Palace because they wouldn't guarantee him a starting place, so that is probably an indication we'll play 4-5-1 more often than not. If that is the case, we'll have far too many strikers for one attacking role.
Even if we do sign Beckford, I think we still need another striker who is guaranteed to get goals. I don't think Beckford is good enough to get 20 a season any more, so I'm not sure what he'll bring to us. We probably need to lose a striker or two and replace them with someone like Austin or Rhodes who is guaranteed to score more than our strikers did last year.
Time is running out to make these changes though. If we end up with signing Beckford and then someone like Ameobi on loan, I'd be really frustrated. I'm concerned that the lack of a natural goalscorer is going to be an issue next year too.
