Having just seen my DD payment for gas go up by £26 a month due to me having had the central heating on all through autumn, winter & spring - good. I'm very glad that it's too fooking hot :)

My neighbours have just gone to Spain for ten days. Bit of miss-timing.

If it's Farnworth to Torre Vieja, it's possible. :D

Don't know how this happened but I will try to explain. Finished my I.T work on time marked by teacher now needs to be marked by visiting examiner from the exam board, here is where the problems start. Apparently a month ago my teacher booked for an examiner from the exam board to come in this week to mark my work (that his what he says) but today when he phones the exam board to ask where is this person they are meant to send along the exam board tell him that the appointment was not logged and there is no availability for an examiner to come in to mark my coursework till September (which is when my accountancy course starts which I need my A - level I.C.T in order to be allowed on as I was made a conditional offer stating I needed to have passed my I.C.T). As a result my AAT accountancy course now hangs in the balance. I have sent them an email to explain what has happened and how a massive error has been made by either my teacher of the exam board which means my work may not be officially marked by the exam board in time. Will just have to hope for the best fingers crossed.

I hope you used punctuation in the email or they'll have trouble following the argument. Good luck anyway.

I was just going to say pretty much the same. Without being rude, Dan, and with your interests at heart, did you get anyone to proof read your mail before you sent it? Or get someone to ghost it for you?

Made sense to me. But I'm not old...:P

Quite a lot of my job consists of reading things written by Joe Public and you'd be gobsmacked at how awful, truly awful, the writing of some people is. We're not talking missed commas; one guy today wrote 'cupboard' instead of 'covered'. It's not a 'young person' thing either. Not by a long chalk. It's everyone.

I normally know what Dan's saying. That'll do.

That said, Dan, I think this place is a good tool for practising 'formal'-ish writing. There's a spell-check, and no end of miserable middle-aged b*stards to trip you up :D. Not that I'm in any way holding myself out as a shining example, but my first posts were in single paragraph text speak. I quickly realised that it's free practice for writing. You don't often get that.

I understood it too, Pru, but the third sentence is incredibly long with no punctuation unless we count one set of parentheses. If he was writing to get leniency from an academic board using some punctuation would be helpful. I don't care about submissions here.

Eh? No-one's saying that Dan's post here doesn't make sense; it is, however, a further example of his poor grasp of grammar. Now, that really doesn't matter on here but the subject in hand relates to him writing to an educational body, at which point it might.

I don't disagree, I just don't think it's obvious that he'll have taken the same care over how he writes it on here, as how he did in his e-mail is all.

Clearly it's been a long time since you attempted to potty train a 2 year old...

It's been a few years but I don't think I tried the training in a supermarket. However, I read bish's angry about statement first, which sounded like parents let their kids do it without worrying. Now I realize the fuller story I withdraw my remark ( I assume you immediately notified the store people so it could be cleaned up).

I read through my email twice before sending it and my sister had a scroll through it (she gets A* in every subject at school and she is never slow to offer her criticisms).
