I don't think, in fact I know that I've never experienced greater panic than not being able to find my passport the night before the Lokomotiv Plovdiv game. I quite literally turned the contents of the house upside down in a bid to find it. After about 90 chest thumping, stomach churning minutes I found it between two books. Now, whenever I return from anywhere the very first thing I do, even prior to taking my coat off, is to run upstairs and put my passport back in a bedside drawer.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Yup, I know that feeling.
I only needed it this time for opening a bank account... I needed two photo identities of which I have precisely two: driving licence (in wallet) and passport (in bedside table drawer). Only this time it wasn't cue *thump, churn sick churn thump*

[EDIT and having just reread the bank form, what I actually needed was two current pieces of identity, one of which must be a photo-identity].

So the last time I saw it was in Canada. Fxck, what a pain.
Surely you must have had to show it to get into the UK. If not, no wonder the country is full of terrorists. You usually do immigration before you get your bags - it's customs you get waved by afterwards.

The girl I work with has a Beagle about a year old. Her mum and dad are going away on Saturday. Said Beagle got introduced to Daddy's passport yesterday. Oh dear.

Well I'm better at rain dancing than I thought. Saturday, Sunday and now today not a spot of sun, and mizzle in the hills. Nearly rain. Not bad from the heatwave that was. 8)

Perhaps people will say I am ridiculously sensitive here, but I do hope I never get to the stage where it feels natural to describe another human being as ‘some extra resource’, particularly when the person in question is a brilliantly kind and quietly eccentric woman like Kate XXXX.
Team – I personally wanted to congratulate our two new Managing Associates on their well deserved promotions announced yesterday.

I also wanted to announce some changes in the XXXXXX team. Kate XXXX will be moving role over the summer to support Neil XXXXXX on the UCITS funds work – which will become her primary focus, while still retaining some involvement in XXXXXXXX as a ‘product expert’. Her support on the XXXXXXX team has been invaluable, and I know Neil is looking forward to some extra resource, particularly with Catherine away.

It's just weird, isn't it. The client we work for hired someone to do some work in India. In meetings prior to her starting they kept describing her as 'The resource', so like 'the resource will do this', 'hopefully when the resource starts'. I mean saying her name wouldn't kill you, and also wouldn't belittle her to the status of a cog in a machine.

I didn't witness a drop. Will be October afore I see any. Was nice to feel a cool breeze again. That is one of the biggest things I miss for half the year.

No, my worthy man. I was just last night reading a bit of Orwell's (Blair's) writing. The coming description in HR departments is 'proles'.

They're usually attached near the posterior of someone called "Director", "Vice President", "MD" or the like. They perform a function totally different from "Executive Assistant", often with an amorphous title like Head of Cadence Steering Committee.

Job description seems to be fairly indeterminate, but comprises variously of:

1) picking up the tab at restaurants
2) carrying gear into meetings, whilst said Director walks in with a small slate/tablet/notebook
3) laughing at shit jokes
4) Startings all conversations with "[Director's name]'s view on this is...."

The approach to take to them is

1) Put the kitchen sink on their tab
2) Tell them "Can you make sure my laptop gets there too whilst you're grabbing [Director's Name]'s, I left it in their office"
3) Point out that humour has changed since the cutting edge "To the Manor Born"
4) Tell them you know [Director's] "view", as said Director works for you. Ask them their own view and wait for the tailspin.

I'm angry about there being no trains in our out of piccadilly. However, I'm happy about the fact that they were giving out free fruit pastilles at the train station and I've managed to accumulate 12 packs. These two things offset and as such I've decided this belongs in this thread.
