Ta, that is what I thought must be annoying though if of your 11 best players 6 are midfielders. Guess that is what they call an imbalanced squad.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

Re: First Match of the New Season
Dunno. Sometimes you can't play the system you'd like. Dougie for example clearly wants to play a 'number 10' in the hole behind a striker. Couldn't do that much last season.ChrisC wrote:bwfcdan94 wrote:One question I have had for years an if any of you have managed then you will be able to tell me but which do managers pick first the formation or the players they are going to play. Seems like a bit of a chicken egg question
You cant pick the players until you know what positions need filling. I would go with formation.
Re: First Match of the New Season
Not sure if Lee will start. Eagles will be pushed to RM, Pratley to CAM and Medo to sit alongside Andrews in CDM.Mar wrote:Gonna have a crack at the starting lineup:
-----------Bogdan
Baptiste Knight Wheater Tierney
-----Andrews Pratley----------
Lee----------------------- Hall
--------------Eagles
--------Sordell
Bench: Beckford, Mills, Lonergan, C.Davies, Medo, Eaves, Ream
Can't see Sordell lasting the full 90, not when we've got options to play around with when fitness starts to tire, would be nice to see him having a good go though. Strikers on the bench offer quite a variety there. Think Eaves might get the nod alongside Beckford, but if we've got one up front i'd imagine Craig Davies would get the nod.
Re: First Match of the New Season
Not too sure about Medo being Dougie's Jedinak but it is arguable he's about as close to Spearing as it comes. I just figure Dougie's a fitness man and judging from the types of player that Pratley and Andrews are i'd imagine those two being the most fit out of the central midfielders with Medo being somewhat of an unknown quantity in terms of fitness at this stage of the season.
Eagles on the right? It's arguable. Personally i'm imagining him in more of a free role and then one of Hall, Lee or Eagles making way for formation changes (Eagles can then slot in Hall or Lee's position or get replaced by another second striker).

Re: First Match of the New Season
I agree with you regarding Eagles and the free role, but I'm not sure Lee will start. Is he fit?
Re: First Match of the New Season
Do you think the atmosphere will be as vile as the last few times we have played their? Not going myself been once wont make the same mistake again, vile place.

Re: First Match of the New Season
I think we will go with..
Ngog to play some part going off Dougie's comments. Probably coming on for Sordell at some point. Possibly see Beckford and Ngog come on up top if we are behind with the game getting away from us.

Not as bad, no, but they'll still mention Judas, I bet. They'll quieten down when we're 2-0 up (only for them to draw 2-2)bwfcdan94 wrote:Do you think the atmosphere will be as vile as the last few times we have played their? Not going myself been once wont make the same mistake again, vile place.

I am hoping Austin has moved on before Saturday. He will be eager to show potential buyers he isn't crocked.

Have we two match threads here?

Okay... so Sordell loaned out to Charlton changes all our line-ups.
Who is going to start up front?
Beckford isn't fit yet. N'Gog or Davies?

Re: First Match of the New Season
I think we'll start 4-2-3-1 with Ngog upfront and Moritz just behind. Eagles on the right and Hall on the left if Chung Yong is not quite match fit. Medo/Andrews sitting deep and the back 5 which seems to be general consensus on this thread.
...Beckford for Moritz when we're 2 down

Ngog in with Beckford to replace. Dougie might shock us all and play Beckford up top with Ngog behind. Chungy hasn't played much so reconsidering my original line up I will go with the following..HMX wrote:Okay... so Sordell loaned out to Charlton changes all our line-ups.

Re: First Match of the New Season
Make the moves pay off, get the ball in the net. Not putting chances away has been a fault for a fair old while. Even last week, didn't Sordell hit the keeper from six yards? We're better than our results, time to start finding the net. Oh. and get Chungy in that line up, Hall can come on second half sometime when we're three up.

How fit can Moritz be ? I'd be amazed if he is even on the bench.wanderers_on_tour wrote:I think we'll start 4-2-3-1 with Ngog upfront and Moritz just behind. Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: First Match of the New Season
I like this team. Freedman said Chungy was unlikely to play, should be a sub. Bring Eaves on for Beckford after 65 mins. Agree with Bobo, if we sign Moritz, he'll be on bench if that.ChrisC wrote:
