According to Nixon, Mears has refused to go to Millwall. Can't say I blame him.
Agreed. Whether it's for footballing reasons or social ones. His card is now marked though and he'll be off sooner or later.
Sorry not having this. A footballer would rather turn down a loan move to another club in the same division and actually play some football, to sit on the bench and pick up his salary (which seemingly is far too high).

Bollocks.

Shows his attitude, shows why we're fecked from the ridiculous business C.unt Coyle did (I'm going to abbreviate him to cc from now on) and why more generally modern football is shit.

Sure the Millwall fans are a bit "nawty" but in his position Mears should be jumping at the chance.

So we insist that a player of ours goes to a club like Millwall, a club that has a history of racist incidents with our players in the not too distant past, then after the perpetrator is banned, they put up a banner suggesting that Marvin Sordell is a c*nt for pointing out the racism?

it seems Dougie has broken down every door in his way to get Moritz in... it shows he can be persistent in getting what he wants.. I only hope he is being equally persistent behind closed doors and in some kind of leak-proof top secret way about getting a CB in...

We clearly wanted him to go. We can't force him as he's under contract.

Millwall have black players and they don't seem to have an issue playing for them. Why is that?

Anyhow he took abuse here at the end of the Rotheram game from our own fans. Clearly he knows that he's not needed by the manager. Yet would still rather pick his wages up.

Sorry, he took racist abuse from our fans? Did anyone report this?

It was a loan wasn't it? Surely he wouldn't be losing money if he went down there as any shortfall in wages would be picked up by ourselves?

Anyway him going, love him or loathe him, would leave us extremely short in the fullback positions.

hmmmm.... is it really that MAD or bad??

if in your job you were offered EITHER a few months off on full pay OR the chance to be seconded to somewhere you considered to be the arse end of the country to do the same job on the same pay - you'd choose the latter??

Whatever was said was enough to mean Mears had to be held back from attacking the culprit.

Like I say they have black players who seem happy enough to play for them, doesn't seem to be an issue. So as he'd be one of their players that is where the comparison lies.

Anyhow, glad to see that our £3M striker was such a good buy that we're now having to loan him out. Another fine mess.

We just don't know the full (or even half) story here. He may not be against going out on loan but just doesn't want to go to London or anywhere else hundreds of miles away.

I don't know his personal circumstances. Has he a wife and young kids? Perhaps he doesn't fancy spending 5 nights a week in a hotel.

Not really. But it is frustrating. And there are certain situations where yeah you can say "why should he".

In Mears' case I just don't see why he wouldn't want to go and get some first team football. Of course there is that he is "picking up his wages here and happy to do so" argument. And no I don't particularly blame him for doing that. Just sort of shows the wrong attitude, and I suspect the attitude Freedman is trying to rid us of, from what he has said!

has it been reported that Mears doesn't want to go to Millwall because of the possibility of racist abuse?? Or is this all a completely made up argument?

Of course, the easy solution would be just to pay off the remainder of his contract like we did with Danny Shittu.

If Hayden White not cover at RB?

He has done well in pre season going off reports and Dougie is obviously happy to use him in the league.

Freedman also admits that the salaries being commanded by some of his fringe players are making them difficult to offload.

Keith Andrews and Matt Mills have both been linked with Blackpool and Leeds United respectively but the fees involved have made the deals difficult to complete.

And though the Whites boss is not being told to ship out players – he does feel a fresh approach in his squad would benefit all involved.

“I am not under pressure to do anything but I think it is right to evolve the team,” he said. “There are certain players here who are not playing as much as they would like to play.

“But they are very well-paid players here and other teams can’t afford our players. So I am in a stuck situation where I can only pick certain players that want to play for this football club. If they don’t, I can’t do nothing about it. I am not under pressure but perhaps we are in a financial position where we have to move one or two on to bring one or two in.”

I'm aware he was given dog's abuse from a Bolton fan while 'warming down from 90 minutes on the bench at Rotherham. It was reported that he flipped and had to be held back.

There was NO suggestion that was racist ... just an unreasonable tw@t with a big mouth slagging someone off.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".
