Anyhow, looking a good toss to win for Australia.

Definitely tough for our bowlers right now.

True enough, but it's exactly why we do have it - I thought he was out watching it in real time, same as the umpire, and then had that disappointing feeling of 'Oh bollocks - he didn't get anywhere near it' on watching the appeal.
and then the "oh - fecking ace - he's been given out anyway" feeling??
:D I didn't, honestly. I had a - you're fecking joking - feeling and a smidge of embarrassment really.

from the BBC ticker...

The England players have been sketching each other in the name of charity, although it's fair to say none are quite in Jack Russell's class with the paintbrush. Can you guess who this is? And, for an extra point, who drew him?

they do kinda need someone to go out and build a proper big score one day - 84 is OK - but they really need someone to get a big ton every now and again...

Thought Rogers was on for one, to be honest. The sun's coming out up here now, too.

Another iffy one . No hotspot but a sound. What did that look like on camera?

Bit weird really, Tango. There's nothing on Hotspot, theball doesn't deviate at all, but there's clearly a sound as the ball passes the bat. The bat's in the air so it's not like it hit the ground or anything. I don't think that there was enough evidence to give the batter out. Some (and a shed load more than this morning) but not enough for me.

Happy for them not to have overturned the umpire's decision.

Aye, puts it back on a level footing. Despite liking the Aussies for their competitiveness, I never forget they're always happy to kick us in the teeth when the boots on the other foot.

smith was plumb then... decisions going in Oz's favour now! hope the umpire is not mentally "evening up"

BBC:

"Big guffaws in the press box as the TV replay reveals that ball from Broad to Smith would have hit middle stump three-quarters of the way up. I think I've seen worse lbw decisions than that, but I really can't remember when..."

I was out at the time but I've just seen a reply in real time, Bish. My take was middle stump half way up, so I wasn't far out. Outrageous decision. They're not having the best of days, these two.

TBF he is from Burnley so he has a right to be morbidly depressed.

We have a wicket. They've scored a bunch of runs but wicket four goes down.
