My interpretation is simple:
In a 4-4-2 you've got two blokes, either one of which can and, to the consternation of the other team's defence, do score.
In a 4-4-1-1 you've got some bloke lurking, holding up the ball, farting about, looking full of skillz but doing nothing of real substance because he:s a bloke who if he went down the chippy would no doubt be called a pink faggot, supporting one bloke up front who scores occasionally if he ever gets the ball delivered to him from the bloke who is not another striker.
so.. to sum up - we NEVER played 4-4-2 last season?
Correct-a-mundo. At least in the games I was in attendance at...

Your describing Wayne Rooney, I know it.

I think LLS is a bit confused.

Should have gone to the fans forum.

Dougie did a good little lesson on systems. In a nice way, pointing out to a fan 'just because you've put two up front doesn't mean you will score more goals'.

I'm not confused. Two up front equals two strikers. One game one might score another game the other, but they are equally capable. When one of the feckers never (or rather, rarely) scores, then he's not a striker, and you are playing 4-4-1-1.
That, Dougie, is a fact.

Last season we had two feckers up-front who rarely scored. What formation were we playing then?

well to be fair, technically it should have been classified as a 4-4-(0)-(0).
Very similar to Chelsea's 4-2-3-(0) except Chelsea's three in the hole were all far superior strikers to most team's actual strikers.

Personally I'd say that's total bollocks but each to his own.

In general there are less teams playing 2 up front nowadays as players in behind etc becomes popular.

As Dougie said Barca play with no strikers and don't seem to have an issue scoring.

as i asked before - for how long is the "player in behind" allowed to be actually in front of the other striker for it to be deemed that we are playing 4-4-2?

When I'm in charge, people will be put in front of a firing squad for less. Its just a good job you didn't insert a "for the win" because that will entail having your fingernails removed and your scrotum being turned inside out first. Just giving you the heads up.

Most food that we overlook these days was simply eaten out of necessity in the past - that's where the frogs legs and snails etc etc etc of French cuisine comes from. Its pretty much the same with us and offal, though (and I'm not sure when this started) we started to "hide" the names in fanciful renaming exercises. I can't remember whether I've had bollox or not, but loads of other glands taste really nice (sweetbreads) so I can't see why you wouldn't. For the record, when we slaughtered some pigs a few years ago in France, the farmer's wives (remember, these gals had free access to foie gras, goose, duck, chicken, bloody everything on tap) were fighting over the ears noses and snouts of the pigs.

Aye fair enough. Nipped down to Ashburner Street when I was in town on Tuesday and they still sell those parts out of cardboard trays. The fish had fecking bluebottles landing on them that the stallholders were trying to hose off. I just bought a half a dozen duck eggs and left.

If you want to try them, the best way is to breadcrumb them and shallow fry them. They're really nice with wild mushrooms (morels and the like). Go on, I know you'll give them a go.

Hang fire, I've just noticed they pickle them in Iceland.

There's always going to be everything else on the menu that actually appeals, but yes, there's always that bit of me that nags - planet once, what's the worst that can happen? All your regrets are those things that you didn't do - etc.
