One of the three Japanese players must have been mispronunciation. In fact probably all three.

I met Barness at a Lewis game a couple of years ago, he was my favourite Bolton player when I was younger. He was one of the nicest blokes you could ever hope to meet not only did he sign my programme and a Bolton ticket I had in my wallet but he also offered me onto the pitch to have a kick about before the team warm up, it was a pre season to be fair and at halve an hour before kick off there was only about 12 people in the ground so he went around and chatted to everyone. Top Bloke. Something I will remember for the rest of my life.TANGODANCER wrote:Anthony Barnarse

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I heard Sor-dul when I was watching back the (funnily enough) Charlton away highlights.
Just sounds weird.

There must be room for Georgio Ghani in that squad?
Hope is what keeps us going.

As I recall, and in order that the Welsby-esque wankers rubbed our noses in it further, the Granada coverage of our play-off final defeat to Tranmere saw them get the names wrong of pretty much all of our players, whereas they referred to their lots players by their Christian names.

Presumably Dave Higson is reading out the line-ups, and we're playing a mid-nineties Aston Villa?

The title of he thread is - a team of mis-spelled/mispronunciated bolton players...
It has nothing to do with "Presumably Dave Higson is reading out the line-ups, and we're playing a mid-nineties Aston Villa" as far as I can see.

What's the point of having a team if we aren't playing anyone? If the team is picked because their names are mispronounced, it would seem silly not to have some-one read them out. If he's reading them out, I think the oppo should contain Ugo Ehiogu.

We played Villa in the late 90's in the Cup ... won 1-0 with a Stubbs shot from far out.Prufrock wrote:What's the point of having a team if we aren't playing anyone? Ehiogu was the Vikla sub ... when he was bought on the tannoy man read out his name and I swear 25,000 people laughed out loud.

I keep using the bloody phone prior to the lenses going in.
Nonetheless the crowd reaction that day was both very funny and incredibly rude.
