What are you playing tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

... or, this week, of all weeks, maybe JJ Cale ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Spent this weekend at Carfest North. Some great bands on, Texas, Bellowhead, Deacon Blue and a great solo set from Alfie Boe. I would however, sooner crawl through broken glass face and tackle down, than have to listen for an hour to Reef again. Utter, utter shite of the very first order.

Our Kid was particularly impressed by Texas. I'm not sure if he's more surprised or me.

I'm not a huge fan of Texas, but live, they're such a tight band and have so many hits to draw on. Great to watch.

She's barely had a mention anywhere but a young kid called Liz Lawrence played an acoustic set between Reef and Boe. She was absolutely excellent. With Bellowhead, you get what you expect, hundreds on stage, lots of energy and a genuine passion for their music. Big surprise for me was Alfie Boe. Not what I expected and a great hour on stage.

Also, Our Kid was pulling his face about it being £8 for burger and chips. This made me laugh as two blokes I know who were there, you and him, are by far the most parsimonious :D

I saw Reef when they first came out. They were rubbish then as well. Had an agreement with a mate that I'd watch that with him if he came to mercury rev with me. He did a lot better out of it than me!

I'm listening to some lovely death metal, something which hasn't happened in several years.

You beautiful bastard!

I shall be re-doing many times in the next few days.

Tonight, though, I'm listening to the single most beautiful piece of music ever written: Chopin's funeral march. Shove your organs; delicate piano is what I'm toddling off to, and everyone had better cry!

Aye. Stephen Fry described him as 'everyone's favourite composer' because his music is so 'achingly romantic'. Works for me!

I don't claim for a second to have lived a life anything other than safe! It was spoken, and quoted, in that context. I don't like the adjectiveless misquote, "A man who would trade liberty for safety deserves neither and shall lose both", but I think with those qualifiers it works! I think it's a good thing to have in mind whenever there's talk of ID cards or e-mail snooping. It might be a little glib for the context of downtown Cairo though, granted!

Anyway, if it was good enough for the cleverest of a very clever bunch of men, it will do for me!
