Yes, it is certainly not the heart of hurricane season, though it is bloody hot this time of year.BWFC_Insane wrote:Hurricanes most likely Sept and Oct from memory in Mexico. Re: Summer Holidays
It was a fantastic holiday Monty, probably the best holiday I've ever had and I've been fortunate to stay in some fabulous hotels around the world. The resort itself was 5* with the best service I've ever experienced from the hotel staff, coupled with our experience of the Mexican people who were so friendly meant it was a trip to remember. We upgraded to the reef rooms where we were a 15 metre walk to the beach and 50 metres from some of the best snorkelling/diving in the Caribbean.Montreal Wanderer wrote:So how did it go? The best - the resort..look for yourself....

The least - the mozzies, they liked my blood! The travel to and from Cozumel took us 24 hours so we were shattered both ways
Was it worth it? Absolutely, having my family around for two weeks was very special
We've promised ourselves a return visit soon

Me too, great holiday (opposite ST in Cozumel) in a place called Playacar. Also had room on the beach. Stayed at Iberostar Tucan which I'd recco. It was fcking hot. Hardly rained (10 mins, 2 days) but big humidity.Salford Trotter wrote:It was a fantastic holiday Monty, probably the best holiday I've ever had and I've been fortunate to stay in some fabulous hotels around the world. People very friendly. Mozzies less so, even with shitloads of DEET. Went through Cancun one night, bit I saw, glad we didn't stay there. Sea positively gorgeous. Got back at 0900 this morning, just about made the game...

Further details will be required once you have recovered a little. BTW in March there were no mosquitoes except inland in the jungle - nothing on the beaches or in the resorts.Worthy4England wrote:Me too, great holiday (opposite ST in Cozumel) in a place called Playacar. Greetings from a very hot and sunny Minsk. Second time I've been here and completely different from anywhere else I've ever experienced. Had a great few days travelling round and still astonished that somewhere in Europe still has such Dickensian poverty in evidence outside the city.

Went to Mexico couple of years back. Lots of mosquitos. Hotel gave out these bands you wear on your ankle and wrist. Emit a smell mosquitos hate apparently. I normally get bitten to feck even with jungle formula DEET, but in 2 weeks had just 2 bites. Those bands must have worked.

Next Sunday .... Calvi in Corsica awaits me.
I've just received a serious amount in an invoice I've waited far too long to get paid .... I predict seafood, wine and a large amount of doing f'call. You guys will never be far from my mind.

That sounds like an important piece of Company Research and Development from where I'm sat Bobo.

If I meet another HR type ... or even a senior line manager with IR issues to discuss ... I plan trying to get it on the VAT. My prissy accountant says that'd be a stretch but hey God loves a tryer.Lord Kangana wrote:That sounds like an important piece of Company Research and Development from where I'm sat Bobo.

I think I must taste like shit - I never (or very rarely) get bitten by anything, not even in Mexico.BWFC_Insane wrote:Went to Mexico couple of years back. Lots of mosquitos. HMRC guidance states if any of the time is considered holiday, then there can be no claim at all, as the primary purpose isn't business. Is your wife a director of your company (I'm assuming you're Limited here?).

It will. Its now a business trip. You'll have to fit it into the criteria of what you do (fairly easy). Accountant won't be happy, but will be happier than before.

Re: Summer Holidays
Off to Mallorca tomorrow for the hopeful family's summer holiday. Never been before, but Mrs H spent a summer there 25 years ago nannying for a British family and she's really looking forward to going back. I can't wait to get away from it all for a couple of weeks. Bring it on.

Hope is what keeps us going.
Re: Summer Holidays
Can seriously recommend Belarus as a destination for the more adventurous of you, certainly Minsk as a city break destination. It's unlike anything you're likely to experience anywhere else in Europe, the hospitality is fantastic and you are very likely to be one of the few Brits in the city.
That's the short trip done, now bring on Transylvania in 3 weeks!
