I'm not much for speculating, but if there's one thing I'm sure of in my tiny little mind it's that Freedman is busting a gut to improve the squad.

Whether it amounts to anything, time will tell. I have the image of that duck gliding serenely around the pond.

If the press is full of speculation and folk keep asking him questions, I guess he's bound to say summat.

I don't remember him saying much about his pursuit of Kamara.

That's why I'm hoping he goes. He played OK before he got ill last year but it looks like further signings are dependent in large part on getting him and Mills off the wage bill.

When does this window shut by the way?
Is it the end of August?

Not sure about this releasing Mears and Mills thing. Where's our cover at right back? Rickets could double as full back but he's gone. Who gets that slot in case of injury? Is Joe Riley fit again?

Release one to sign one isn't it? So Dougie doesn't fancy Mills, gets shot and gets one in he does fancy.

That's sounds terribly simple. Of course, in the real world we could end up with both or neither if the deals don't all work out as planned.

Indeed. I suspect it's a case of sort a deal out and a deal in before either is signed off.

As in I'm sure Andrews to Brighton was sorted to allow Spearing in but they waited to do the in before the out, so to speak.

All I mean is we don't have the luxury if improving the squad by adding further numbers to it. Or at least that seems to be the case.

We've got that Hayden White chap for right back cover. If Mills isnt going to play feck him off.

Personally i could see a place for him with Baptiste at centre half. But doesnt look like Dougie agrees with me.

I still don't think binning Mears off is a priority. I appreciate the one in, one out thing ... and he may be on good money, so that makes sense, but I just don't believe he's the anti-Christ of full-backs.

Mills just doesn't fit ... and if we are in with a sniff of Dawson, or a.n.other c-h then we do need to get shut.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

It's gone "quiet" since we binned off Nixon.

I don't mind Mears but you have to break a few eggs, etc.

We don't need 4 'first team' centre halves. We have Bolger as a youth back up and Baptiste can play there. I'd bin Mills or Ream off regardless of a signing. Waste of cash.

Not technically true DSB. You can buy Tetra Paks of liquid eggs these days.

Anyway, I still maintain that if CH is such a priority (and I think the common consensus is that it is) then we may have to be prepared to sell an asset to get what we want. I think the points been made before that its easy to hypothetically rid yourself of all your unwanted players, but if you don't want them who else does? And what if they don't agree to the move?

Well from what I read, that's exactly what happened with Mears and a loan move to the uneducated, violent, racist c*nts of Millwall.

He'll get a better offer than that elsewhere. And we can't afford his wages anyway.

We've just bought Beckford anyway.
