Vote Lofthouse as the Football League's greatest captain!
http://www.themeninwhite.com/blog/nat-l ... r-captain/
Nat Lofthouse is the greatest ever captain to have graced the Football League right? We know that, I’m sure you don’t need much persuading! The Lion of Vienna, a player who led by example and was what football’s really all about. A player who did it for both club, to whom he remained ever faithful, and country. A player who had a lionheart on and off the field. If you agree please get behind our campaign to have Nat recognised as the greatest ever captain of the Football League, a captain to lead all captains.
[Read enough? Click here:http://ow.ly/nSyGN to cut straight to the chase and visit the Prostate Cancer page on which you can cast your vote for Nat. Otherwise read on to hear a little more about the vote]
OK, Nat Lofthouse is the greatest ever captain to grace the Football League, but what’s this vote all about?
Prostate Cancer UK, the official charity partner of the Football League, is running a campaign to highlight the fight against prostate cancer and to do this they want football fans to become ‘Men United’. It’s a great cause and the campaign is well deserving of support even aside from the fact we get to vote for Nat. Every great team needs a great captain of course, so the vote is a run-off to decide which of 72 different nominees (one for each Football League club) gets the most votes for being the greatest ever captain in the Football League, and deserving of leading Men United. A vote for Nat is of course also therefore a vote for our team, the one and only Bolton Wanderers, to have had a captain more worthy of recognition than any other team has ever seen.
Right, I’m in! I want Lofthouse to get the recognition he deserves as a captain worthy of leading Men United! What can I do to help?
VOTE HERE: http://ow.ly/nSyGN
Spread the word and get everybody you know voting for Nat too:
Pass the link on to your fellow Wanderers.
Pass the link on to non-Wanderers who know about how fine a captain he was.
Pass the link on to non-Wanderers who DON’T know how deserving of winning he is, and tell them why!
Like this post, and share this post on Facebook, do everything possible to spread the word!
Tweet this post, retweet this post, and use the hashtag #lofthouse4captain + the hashtag #menunited
Write about it on your own blog, or anywhere else you think you might get Nat more votes.
Just generally help us get as many people voting for Nat as we possibly can!
How long is there to vote?
Round 1 ends on Tuesday 20th August so get your boots on! Following that there’ll be a second round 5-way stand off and a national second round of voting, with a cut-off date of Friday 30th August and the final official Men United captain announced on Monday 2nd September.
Let’s do this, lets get Nat Lofthouse recognition as the greatest ever captain in the Football League and deserving of leading 'Men United'!
[N.B. We've been offered a small payment as thanks for contributing the written piece used for the Lofthouse page by the Prostate Cancer Men United campaign, which we'll be donating to the Kids Of Bolton charity]

The case for Nat is also being made by Guardian journalist Scott Murray, who describes Lofthouse as "the greatest one-club striker ever". To read his nomination in full, and help make Nat the Football League's best ever captain, visit the Prostate Cancer UK site:

Just noticed this story on the Beeb website - bleedin pillocks
FA apologises over Lofthouse plaque omission
11 September 2015
The Football Association has apologised for its own goal in omitting one of England's most prolific scorers from a roll of honour at Wembley Stadium.
Bolton Wanderers legend Nat Lofthouse was absent from a plaque listing every England player's debut.
The FA was alerted by a Bolton fan shocked to see the Lion of Vienna missing from a pride of England stars.
Les Medley, who was a star of the "push and run" Tottenham team of the early 50s, was also missed out.
The FA has apologised to the families of both players. FA gaffe sees Lofthouse left off plaque
"We appreciate this matter being brought to our attention and, following an investigation, have ascertained that it was due to a formatting error," said a spokesman.

Nat Lofthouse was nicknamed the Lion of Vienna
"The panel is in the process of being taken down and will be replaced imminently"
The omission of England's sixth highest scorer, who netted 30 goals in 33 games, was spotted in the week when Wayne Rooney scored his 50th goal for England to break Sir Bobby Charlton's record.
Bolton's club historian Simon Marland said: "How can you miss a guy who scored 30 goals in 33 games?"
"Anyone can make a mistake but on the positive side it's probably got people talking about Nat."
Lofthouse earned the nickname The Lion of Vienna because of his winning goal for England in 1952 against Austria following a run from the halfway line.
