I don't know, suspect Freedman has better things to do that give out confidential medical information about one of his players.

in which case we don't know how he caught it... do we? also - maybe the club is lying to hide a potential transfer bid...

I agree that Eagles would improve us going forward but we shouldn't need to rely on him to create something. Dawson would improve us defensively too but, again, we shouldn't need to rely on him to make us more solid. Why can't the team just play good football in order to create chances and why can't our defence be well drilled enough to not let two shambolic goals in? These are problems with tactics, not the players. There are plenty of lesser teams in the league than ours - including Forest - but they play better football than us, create more chances and defend better.

It's easy to always say "oh, well we need to improve ____ before we start winning games". Bring in Dawson and people will say "we need to bring in a better striker" or "we need a better winger". It's never ending. We should look at the team we have and how to get the best out of them, and right now, we are in a privileged position to have such a strong squad already. but the issue is, we aren't getting the best out of those players. Replacing the weak players with better ones will help but it won't fix the fundamental problems with our team. Is our defence perfect? No, it's not, but bringing Dawson in won't stop awful defending like we saw today. Bringing Eagles back won't turn us into a side which creates many chances.

The players are fine. Not perfect but that's not the weak part of our set-up either. Why are we incapable of passing the ball properly? Why can't we create chances? Why are our strikers always stranded? Why can't we defend? Why do we continuously boot up long balls to lone strikers? Why do we allow every team far too much space outside the box? Are these all issues with the individuals or is it a problem with how the individuals are being instructed?
Excellent & very accurate post Joseph....I couldn't have put it any better myself

Ha. We missed him today. Nobody looked like getting past their man and Ngog holds the ball better than Craig Davies.

Missed Eagles too.

Feck it we just missed in general.

Thing is, when Zat Knight retires and returns to the Reebok in 20-30 years to draw the raffle thing at half time we'll all be telling our kids/grandkids of the time Super Zat scored against Man United.
''Amazing! Out of nothing Bolton are level. A quick throw, Kevin Nolan keeps play alive in the box and finds Kevin Davies on the left who lashes a shot under Oliver Kahn.''

You could have saved ten minutes by just writing its all Freedman's fault.
easily done - but i think you are possibly responding to the poster's name rather than the content of the post - cos there's a lot of sense in there, surely? management is about getting the best out of the squad you have - squeezing out every point possible from what you have at your disposal. yes - it is early days - and I certainly have not given up on promotion - but it can't JUST be about buying a new player - can we - hand on heart - say that the bunch that we currently have are performing to their absolute peak? i don't really think we can.
I didn't disagree with SF. The post was saying it was all down to Dougie but was very long winded.

My biggest hate about the team (and this goes way back), is we never ever ever seem to cut teams open. We always score from a cross or a ball bouncing round in the box. We play some good stuff at times but have no end product most of the time.

We go a goal down and it's game over because we are not good enough to score more than the odd goal. It's depressing. :(

No one went past their man last week either - we didn't miss him. Eagles, we missed.

We need someone who isn't N'gog and isn't Cravies. Beckford wasn't on very long today, but I suspect it's not him either.

What the f*ck is it with Zat Knight? We're on our third manager now who thinks he's worth his place. Is. He brilliant in training, but when it comes to games he falls to bits? He wouldn't be the first...

Or is if that he's a senior player on big money who is better than the rest of the centre halves we have?

Fact is we haven't seen any of the other three look like displacing him from the team.

I will be an Internet pound that Dougie won't offer him a new deal when his current one ends.

Freedman still doesn't know what system or formation to play, still square pegs in round holes. I'm seriously struggling to understand why anyone would continue to play Knight & LCY week after week.

I seriously want Freedman to succeed at BWFC, but we continually seem to take 1 step forward & 2 back....

It's the bloody championship not the premiership, I know he's not got loads of money but surely with the players at his disposal and the signings he's made, he could at least get us playing like a team we just seem so disjointed & flat - we need spirited & motivated players in a system to get the best out of what we have.

After 3 games it's absolutely no different to last season, no progress at all....we desperately need a good CB but more importantly we need a leader out there on the pitch to lead by example....

I'd put my pension on it, him and half a dozen others at least.

It seems faintly absurd to, on the one hand, say Dougie has no choice but to play him (you seemn to be suggesting its because of his wages) and that he clearly doesn't value him, because he won't give him a new deal (which is a fairly easy bet to place, as he'll be much older then, and we may not have been promoted) - and then say he simultaneously has no choice but to make him captain. The suggestion seems to be (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that of the other 10 on the pitch he values Zat Knight as his most capable captain. That doesn't really stack up, after all, there are now several players in our team that Dougie bought. Does he not rate his own signings above Zat Knight?

It wouldn't surprise me if he made Spearing captain. But I don't think we had an obvious candidate before. And seeing as Knight had done it before, he probably didn't want to make the issue out of it by changing to someone less obvious.

He plays Knight because he's better than Ream, Mills and Wheater. Knight was a part of the back four the kept plenty of clean sheets in our best home form in twenty years last season. I don't think he will be kept on but right now we have four centre halves and lets give Wheater the benefit of the doubt as he's coming back from serious injury, but Ream and Mills certainly can't displace Knight irrespective of his faults.
