spearing. dougie didn't have to rush into appointing a permanent captain, did he? not before he'd finished doing his business, anyway...BWFC_Insane wrote:Who else would you have made captain?plymouth wanderer wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:Or is if that he's a senior player on big money who is better than the rest of the centre halves we have?Lord Kangana wrote:What the f*ck is it with Zat Knight? Fact is we haven't seen any of the other three look like displacing him from the team.
I will be an Internet pound that Dougie won't offer him a new deal when his current one ends.
Why make him captain then?

Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
Would I be right in thinking that's our biggest loss since relegation?
Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
you make dougie sound a bit weak... he's the boss, surely? he can make anyone captain - it's up to him!!BWFC_Insane wrote: It wouldn't surprise me if he made Spearing captain. But I don't think we had an obvious candidate before. And seeing as Knight had done it before, he probably didn't want to make the issue out of it by changing to someone less obvious.

Maybe we could injure Zat Knight, someone follow him around and trip him up or something.

there is no way in the sane world that the text to be found at the end of your link translates into "Dougie's not arsed"Peter Thompson wrote:Its ok though because 'super' Dougie's not arsed....

Ok Bish I'll re phrase....he doesn't appear to think that there is any problem !
Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
Ok the way home and am quite depressed by what I've seen. I'm a supporter of Dougie but starting to lose the faith. Last season's run was plain lucky at times but I was optimistic because he'd toughened us up and I thought we'd evolve, play better football with greater confidence. It's not happening and I don't feel like it's going to any time soon. We offer so little attacking threat, movement is rubbish. He's so obsessed with team shape it makes us boring and shit to watch. Other points, cyl is stealing a living and Andy Reid is a cnut. Most entertaining thing 2nd half was the complete bellend in front of me booing constantly and shouting feeedman out to point where it just became comical.

Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
Only missed a few minutes of the game (plus the last five when I turned it off. not often I've ever done that). At times we looked like Canon Slade girls playing Barcelona. Commitment and energy, compared to theirs was awful. We were way too slow, passing shocking and couldn't find a space on Dartmoor. Everytime we did win the ball we gave it right back to them. One of the times when I wished we had big Sam giving them total shxt off the sidelines. We were getting hassled off everything and if, as has been said, we were the better side, I must have missed that bit. In short, we were crap. Must be said the ref was attrocious in some of the things he let go. Looked like a wrestling match at times. Have to play a lot better than that before anybody takes us serious as promotion candidates. The great plan hasn't kicked in yet.

Read it and try again. He clearly sees the problem. But as he says 'we are where we are'. We aren't in a position to have a massive squad with cover everywhere.Peter Thompson wrote:Ok Bish I'll re phrase....he doesn't appear to think that there is any problem !
Simple answer is we need to fight and scrap each week for whatever points we can get. And they need our support.
There was no lack of effort today. Just a lack of ability in key areas.
Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
There was a lack of sharpness and of bravery in possession. Nobody took any risks and when they got forward no one moved into space and gave the player in possession options. On one occasion Beckford made a run for Lee and he ignored him and it came to nothing. Eagles is now essential until y Davies is fit. We should try to sell Lee.

Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
Give over, you make it sound like we're punching way above our level. We weren't on our bare bones today, we have the quality. There's only one area for concern in terms of personnel, and that's been well debated already. We looked badly set up and played as a bunch of individuals today. What we need is a bit more grit and organisation, just as Tango has said just up there. We have the players.BWFC_Insane wrote:Read it and try again. He clearly sees the problem. You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Billy Davies would kill for the quality we have. We moan about our players because we've become used to Premier League quality but we have a very strong squad for this league. I absolutely reject the idea that us having a weak squad is to blame for the performances since we got relegated.

The quality of the players is there but for some reason it just isn't working. We were probably poor against Burnley but I said we were okay because it was the first game, we were away and we got a point. But today, our third game, we were just awful. There were no encouraging signs.
Medo was a hot-head today and needs to calm himself down. He should have been sent off.
And Pratley needs to apologise to the fans because getting sent off like that, with the play no where near him, was idiotic.
Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
The sending off was irrelevant really. he game had gone by then anyway and I have no doubt at all that we'd still have lost with 11. I have decided to apologise to myself and my bank balance for spending money and time on that without any real hope of anything other than a defeat.Jugs wrote:I think you're right.SmokinFrazier wrote:Billy Davies would kill for the quality we have. Too early to rule us out but having watched all 3 league games and seen us 2nd best every time my optimism levels have taken a serious nosedive.

Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
Before the game I was reading a Forest fans view that he felt they had strength all over the pitch. That had me worried because I couldn't think of a time we ever had that. It's quite apparent to me that Coyle left Freedman an unbalanced side with more than one or two just not up to he job.
I believe Freedman will turn it around but given our finances it aint gonna be this year.
Like others, my biggest doubt over Dougie was the Zat Knight captaincy - I find that hard to reconcile with the idea of Dougie eventually being a success

Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
people still overrating the quality of our team.
its bang f*cking average. even for this league. it's a shame holden and basically chung yong never came back from their injuries. that's the kind of quality that could set you apart in this league. it's likely gone and there's little else on our books imo.
eagles is a huge miss while he's out. anyone with eyes could see on the opener against burnley he was a big catalyst for us. and even with him, when all is said and done, he's a good championship player and nothing more.
we have massive issues at central defence. big time. if they aren't fixed, mid table beckons in this league.
and i'd suggest the same up top unless beckford can be a 15+ goal player. which i have doubts on as a lone striker.

Re: Game for the Poaching at Forest!
I don't post very often on here, but as it's a 'home game' for me and I've gone home frustrated, disappointed, embarrassed then I feel upset enough to post.
I thought we were very poor today. We were intimidated by Forest's hustle and their partisan crowd and the players did not stand up and be counted.
I'll work my way through the team and pass my comments:
Bogdan - Had nowt to do other than pick the ball out of the net three times
Defence - Wheater is an embarrassment at centre half. Teams will just play on his lack of pace and slow turning circle. Knight gets slated on here, but I like the guy. He gave the ball away for the first goal, but there was still shed loads of defending to be done by the rest of the team once Forest got possession. Full backs got no support from our wingers
Midfield - Medo and Spearing were far too deep allowing Forest to play in Front of them. Lee, was awful, lost his confidence, never runs past a man. Medo should have been sent off (and so should Reid). I didn't see Pratley's offence for the red
Forwards - Davies no service, Beckford no service
Just an embarrassing day all round. We had no pace in the team and were far too pedestrian.
Wanderers fans in the 'Lower Bridgford' seemed OK and very tolerant of a poor Wanderers display.
Forest fans ... some Wanderers fans were guffawing at "Mull of Kintyre" ..."all mist rolling in from the Trent, my desire is always to be here at .... City Ground "...but it's far better than what we can muster and did make for a great home atmosphere at ko time and half time ko time.
Ahh well ...that's my opinion for what it worth....awful day...Wheater not fit for purpose...Lee not fit for purpose (today) .... Medo (a disaster waiting to happen) .... Spearing (I think we might be seeing him as a quick fix to a mediocre midfield).
Dougie knows exactly what's wrong with our team / squad, but is struggling to get rid of who he wants to get rid of and get in who he wants to get in.
