New Signings

Post by mcflykyle182 » Sat Aug 24, 2013 2:58 pm

Which of our new boys has most impressed you so far?

I think Hall. He looks lively and exciting, something we haven't really seen from anyone else so far. He needs more game time though.
''Amazing! Out of nothing Bolton are level. A quick throw, Kevin Nolan keeps play alive in the box and finds Kevin Davies on the left who lashes a shot under Oliver Kahn.''

Cast my vote for Spearing, tough call between him and Hall but just feel Hall looks good but not as" impressive" as Spearing so far. Will be interesting as the season goes on and Hall gets more game time.

None of them are a patch on Spearing so far.

Hall looked lively last week in the first half and when he came on today. He might impress me in the future given some games under his belt. But better than Spearing so far this season? No, long way from it.

Hall and Moritz haven't actually played much yet, so it's a bit early to tell, probably same for Beckford.

Who voted for Baptiste?! Not impressed. Whoever it was must have done so before today.

I thought he was poor today and hasn't looked great. Then again I've been very happy with Tierney but he's been a bit rubbish today. Hard to pass real judgement after so few games but it's a forum so why the feck not?!

Best - Toss up between Spearing and Tierney.

Worst - Baptiste, by some distance.

Nah. I reckon that Eagles can bring the best out of Beckford.

Also, today the front two were always too far away from one and other. Neither one was ever going to apply the touch that put the other through.

Surprised about the Baptise opinion i think he's done ok so far

I thought Tierney's crossing today was woeful (which is a big thing in that system) not to say he's a bad player just not good today

Spearing all the way!
Never get into an argument with an idiot. i'll bring you down to my level and beat you with experience

Agreed. They split which is a tactic that seems to be in vogue. But the problem with that is that they ended up isolated.

From the brief cameos so far I think having Eagles/Moritz/Hall behind any of our strikers could guarantee us goals. Not as sold as Dougie with Ngog behind the striker but he's yet to be 100% n all this summer so I'll trust our managers judgement.

I just hope they all get "fit" fast..

Tierney for me, and that's only because I count spearing as a 'last season' signing. Obviously it's him hands down if we're getting into formalities, but I think Tierney has been pretty solid. He's been caught out of position a couple of times but generally he wins headers in the air and he can put a good cross in. He's safer and more solid than Alonso ever was, who, apart from that last couple of months with us was absolutely shocking. So yes in terms of an improvement to a position we had that was weak, Tierney.
