here's what I think - I think that set of players SHOULD have been entirely capable of beating Tranmere - but they didn't - and what's more - they played like a shower of shoite. I think a good manager should be capable of getting more out of those players (you used to think this too). I'm not saying "sack Dougie" - not even close - but I AM saying that the buck stops at his door when it comes to performances like that - he should be capable of getting more out of those players that traveled to Tranmere than he did last night - that's his JOB - that's the entire point of being manager/coach.
I can only tell you what I saw with my own eyes. And that was several players on the pitch, particularly in our attacking trio, who were no better than the players Tranmere had.

Now perhaps that is all Dougie's fault and we should get a new manager in who will turn Eaves and Odelusi and to a lesser extent Vela into superstars ready to fire us into the premiership. If that is what people think then I'm not going to change their mind.

But as it stands I don't care who is in charge we have certain areas of the squad where the backup simply isn't deep enough in both numbers and quality.

You can keep saying these players "should" be good enough to do this and that if you like. I you want to shout for the managers head because you think someone will do a better job, go for it.

My opinion is that until we get our key players back OR sign some replacements we will continue to struggle regardless.
:conf: perhaps you should actually read what I wrote before responding

I have assessed your opinion correctly then: Tranmere's side last night was simply better than ours - they simply have better players - and there's nowt dougie could have done about it with the shoite he has at his disposal?

I said that they weren't good enough to break a league one side down on the night.

But critically they definitely are not good enough to fire us to the top 6 of this division, which is what matters. We saw some of the backup players last night.

So why didn't he play that 11 then?

I genuinely don't understand why people aren't bothered about being out of this competition. It's no wonder we haven't won anything for over 50 years.

Maybe we should just write off the F.A. Cup as well while we're at it.

So we don't have 11 players at the club who are good enough to beat Tranmere?

F*cking hell. This discussion is actually happening. we're discussing whether we're good enough to beat Tranmere. I told you the come down would be massive.

Most of that side last night have played Premier League football.

The fact they find themselves drawing at Tranmere probably speaks voumes about the sort of players we are able to attact.

I've said further up individually they're all ok and would probably play better in better sides - it's just when they pull on that White shirt their powers seem to drain away.

Who are our sponsors again? Kryptonite?
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Where just on a bad run atm I trust Dougie will turn it around is there anything fvcking wrong with that?

Would you say we do or we don't? I would hope we do. I would hope that XI last night were good enough - they certainly had more shots, etc.

no - nowt wrong with that - but then you aren't saying that Tranmere's players last night were better than the side we put out - you're not saying we fielded a team simply not good enough to beat Tranmere. there are lots of reasons good teams can lose against poorer teams - but I am not having BWFCi's explanation that man-for-man Tranmere had simply better quality players than on display ours - they didn't. BWFCi is saying that our team last night was qualitatively worse than Tranmere's team - and so beating them was pretty much never gonna happen and there was nowt dougie could have done about it.

One of our biggest problems right now seem to be grading the opposition. We get mental images of "only Tranmere" instead of just playing to beat the opposition, whoever they are. Despite all the tactics we employ to counteract different sides, is putting out your best team and just going for it still not the best way in the long run? Treat the lot like playing Barcelona. Could we do much worse if we did?

Can you please find, where I have said that?

You are just making up words and saying I have said them.

I said we had some players who last night were "playing at their level".

Read my inital post. As I said it is more than possible we'd have won the game. Disallowed goals, one looked over the line. On another day we'd have won. But the result of last night is more or less irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Of course we could have fielded our strongest team and beaten them, I reckon we could beat anyone in this division with our strongest team. But how many (even if Dougie decided to play our strongest 11) of those were fit to play last night?

My point is that we are looking to push towards the top of the championship. Our back up is not good enough for that. Last night merely highlighted it. Several of them didn't look out of place against league one opposition.

Dougie has in an interview today said pretty much the same as I did.

Closely edited, but that Tranmere goal did look like a rush of head to a certain Z. Knight.

Nice Beckford finish from a nice Moritz pass. I might just think about that for a while.

Well, there is that.

While you were suffering at Prenton (and hey, I've been there brother), one TW poster politely asked for an end to the Knight-knocking. You can imagine the response, but I said it might help if he wasn't so frequently culpable.
