Anyway continue to *enjoy* the Championship ... just like I predicted at the start of last season when you scraped the 2-2 at your place.

They probably included the time the ball was sat in the back of our net. Take that away and you've probably shaved 10% off the figurejaffka wrote:Well that was totally w@nk, getting destroyed by a team who we have had the hoodoo over for the last couple of years.
Apparently we had 61% of the possession??? Didn't seem like it.

Re: Away to Blurrrghburn
What we didn't look yesterday was urgent. Everything looked half-paced and I can't think of once, not once, when pace troubled Blackburn. I can think of a lot of occasions when theirs troubled us. Every time we got forward we faced a blanket defence because we took so long to actually attack the goals. They constantly hit the ball into acres of space in our half and always looked like scoring. A real stand out problem was our inability to keep the ball. How many passes were intercepted on route and how many times did our lot look like they were waiting for a bus back to Bolton instead of looking like they wanted the ball.
I just took a look in print at the League table. Not a pretty sight. Bolton Wanderers played five, won none, drawn two, lost three. Two points and bottom of the league. It isn't about panicking, moaning or sacking somebody, it just hurts. It has to hurt any true Bolton supporter. Right now we look to have mislaid our balls somewhere. We need to find em, and quickly, before it starts affecting dressing room morale. We'll never be Barcelona, but fxck me, surely we're better than this? The mood will pass but we're still bottom of the league. That's the reality. Get some Bolton back into the side ffs.

Saying some players don't want to be here is straight out of page one of the 'How To Cover Your Own Arse: Football Manager's Edition'. It's like when a new boss takes over and says that all the players are unfit to buy himself some time. All the players that played yesterday are ones that Dougie has either bought, or been playing regularly since he took over. We were shit yesterday, but I don't think we lacked effort.
Obviously Zat Knight has reached Megson-point now and so it's all his fault regardless, but looking at the goals yesterday...
Goal 1 - Pratley gives the ball away. Mears falls over and is consequently left for dead by King. Medo runs straight after the ball and leaves Dunn free. Baptiste, Wheater and then Knight all decide to brainlessly fly in as Dunn waddles through to score.
Goal 2 - Less than a minute after conceding, two simple passes take the entire midfield and Baptiste out of the game. Wheater is stood in a position where he could never, ever hope to influence the game and a huge gap opens up between the two centre halves. Zat flies in on Rhodes, loses out and it's a goal.
Goal 3 - Eagles gives the ball away, catching Mears out of position. When the ball is crossed into the box from the right there are six Bolton players in the box, and only actually Zat Knight ever gets close to a man. At no point do Spearing or Medo pick up anyone on the edge of the box, and eventually Evans slams it in via Jay's head.
Goal 4 - Under no great pressure Wheater gives the ball away allowing somebody to roll it across for Rhodes.
Other than the fourth, I don't think you can pin any of the goals on one individual error. It's error after error from the entire defensive unit. Spearing and Medo were as bad as anyone yesterday.
I don't know how you could watch that shambles yesterday and think replacing one player (or even adding one player) is going to solve everything.

Indeed, massive over-simplification to think it's all down to one defender.Tombwfc wrote:Saying some players don't want to be here is straight out of page one of the 'How To Cover Your Own Arse: Football Manager's Edition'. Re: Away to Blurrrghburn
Fully agree with that not being said in an interview. If he feels like that then he should say it when he has the players in a room and have a reason for that attitude. Last two games I had a real wish that somebody like a Big Sam would go bananas on the touchline and give the team rice instead of a gentlemanly show of turn the other cheek and smile that we've had.Tombwfc wrote:Saying some players don't want to be here is straight out of page one of the 'How To Cover Your Own Arse: Football Manager's Edition'.

Pretty much where I am. Too many people default to the scapegoat/ magic bullet route. Drop Bogdan, Knight, Pratley, Eagles........ bring back Spearing, Dawson ........
I'm still not convinced about our set up. Pratley clearly isn't a wide right midfielder, Baptiste isn't a LB ( not convinced he is a RB either tbh). We are playing with no real left midfielder, albeit chungy played well going forward yesterday. As a consequence we are v narrow - perhaps that partly explains the poor possession/ incisiveness.
All in all I'm coming to the view DF is trying to play a system without the players who can do it which is pretty fundamental. Also getting bothered if the only solution is for DF to go back to Palace for players he had there

Re: Away to Blurrrghburn
Again, I agree broadly with the sentiment, but perhaps if Dougie is wedded to one way of playing, at least siging a couple of players might change us for the better, rather than going through the upheaval, yet again, of changing the manager and entire coaching staff? I'm looking for least worst option here.

I'm not looking for a managerial change.... yet. As I see it with DF/ LL we've got two managers anyway, one with pretty vast experience. If they can't see it and know what needs sorting and how to do it, I will be gobsmacked

Re: Away to Blurrrghburn
Just from the highlights it didn't look too bad, at least we had chances. Blackburn could have been 3-0 up at HT, but so could Bolton if Beckford had his shooting boots on.
Shambolic defending and got punished.
