Absolutely and I don't wish to imply that Joe does take joy from our troubles but there is an air of 'told you so' which ... admittedly ... he did. I'd just advocate a tad of positivity, if only on other subjects, so we get a rounded view of him and so judge the criticisms in context.

C'mon Joe, you can do it.

In all seriousness though, I'm only as disappointed as I am right now because I think we have potential to be a very good side which, unfortunately, isn't being fulfilled. I really like the look of our squad and I think we have enough talent to get promoted. I don't dislike Freedman either, and I don't think he should be sacked now, and I'd like nothing more than to be eating my words at the end of the season. Whilst I am critical of some of his managerial decisions, I think we are having a run of bad luck at the moment, because of injuries, and hopefully when everyone is back fit again, we can improve our performances and league position.

As the cliché goes, "it's the hope that kills you". As last season ended, the silver lining was the strong finish and I hoped that this year, we'd be able to start well and hopefully get into a dominant position after the first 10 or so games. That won't come true now but I do have a lot of faith in our squad and no matter how much us fans may disagree, we're all on the same page in wanting that. If people disagree with me, that's fine, I'm often wrong, but I don't like this suggestion that I'm pleased when things go wrong for us because it proves my opinion was right. I don't want to be right, I want to look like a pessimistic no-nothing idiot after each game! It's because I care so much that it bothers me when we play poorly, and if we did manage to go up this season, I'd be delighted at that. I'd like nothing more than to say "Freedman was right" after the last game of the season.

Great memories!

We'd sometimes go in the manny road stand but I was only 6-7 and it was all standing back then with those horrible railings dotted about and I couldn't see over the top of the burly blokes haha.
It was the same for me with the Lever End but I graduated into the Burnden Terrace. Manny Road????? Lightweight!
Hmmmm. Never actually went in the Great Lever End. It just looked shit. Every other section of the ground I've been in. Chose the username because I'm from Great Lever, though like BWFC I now live in Horwich (admittedly only since 2 weeks ago).

I like reading your opinions and most other right thinking people on this forum, at least you have an opinion. I agree we have a good enough squad to be up there, we are lacking confidence a win or two and I think we will start moving up the table. I am not hopeful for Saturday, hopefully we can come back after the break with more fit players and sort out the issues we are currently having in defence. However, I still say if we were scoring the goals the defence would hardly get a mention.

We need four defenders, a few midfielders and two strikers.

Well he's not allowed to spend anything so don't see what choice he has?

Line in the Bolton News today from Marc Iles

"But if the club are serious about challenging for a play-off spot then surely the manager must be given some scope to make changes at a faster rate?".

What happened to the massive news from yesterday that Dougie was going to hang, draw and quarter half the first team, then drag their entrails through the streets as a warning to the rest of the squad? Hyperbolic bollox? Again?

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I did say that yesterday. Can only get rid if someone wants them. How many of ours are actually genuinely wanted elsewhere?

Well we'll probably lose Ngog, I just don't see how that fits into any planning on our part, he's just a saleable asset.

Do you reckon anyone will buy him though? Swansea are now linked with about 4 strikers. Bolton News saying interest in NGog from Swansea but no bid.

I think NGog, Knight, Wheater, Mears and Mills are the ones he'd move on if he had the choice now. NGog as you say not because he particularly wants to but presumably because he's on big money and one of the few anyone might consider paying something for.

I don't see why he'd target Ngog above any of the other shite in the first team. For obvious reasons he won't be getting rid of the players he's just signed, I can't see how you go from captain to moved on in weeks, he handed Wheater a new contract in the same time-frame, so he can't backtrack on that easily, which leaves us at Mills. Well he's wanted shut of him since the start of summer, and he hasn't played so I can't see how that fits into this plan of rdical change after some piss poor results and performances. Perhaps its time to bite the bullet and simply try to work with what we've got?

To publicly state that there are players at the club who he can't do anything with on the training ground and who he can't get rid of, is just plain idiotic if he then has to call on them in the rest of the season.

Would it matter if he had a budget, or would we just end up with more shite like Beckford?

Beckford was signed with basically no initial outlay. He only costs us money transfer fee wise if he bags a lot and/or we go up. And he's replaced the £3M wonder kid Sordell.......

He will be fine. Started to get on the end of things, and yes he's snatched at a few but I'm confident it will come. I always think when strikers start to get chances like that it is a good sign.

Cheers

I think we'll do some business today, one centre half will do and if Knight goes I'll be ecstatic!
