Gartside, please just shut up!!!!

The blokes an idiot. He needs to just keep quiet, instead of trying to justify why we should take positives that we didnt sign anybody on deadline day!!!

Re: Gartside, please just shut up!!!!
don't you think he has a point though. isn't it usually regarded as better to get you business done early, rather than last minute panic
the whole way the media demands a spectacle for deadline day and fans get the huff if their team doesn't do it, is pure x factor

Re: Gartside, please just shut up!!!!
Are signings on Transfer Deadline Day (!) the be-all and end-all of player transfers?
We couldn't get rid of some of Coyle's duds so we couldn't add to the roster. It's plain to see.
I'd be far more worried if he kept quiet!

Re: Gartside, please just shut up!!!!
Im not arguing the fact that its better to do your business early, but when DF stated that we needed some more incomings after the Blackburn game then if there were no funds available, why let him bid for Kightly and Ramage only to find we couldnt afford them???
Did DF not know there were no funds in place?
And his comments about "if theyd signed Spearing on Deadline day then everyone would be happy" is a joke.

Re: Gartside, please just shut up!!!!
Every manager in world - "We could do with 2 or 3 more."
I guess if we did ask about Kightly or Ramage it was with a price in mind, which was beaten elsewhere. So be it? We've spent our money this Summer and the problem at CB is a problem a) Because Freedman has inherited 4 centre backs who aren't good enough and we can't get rid of, and b) He has put his faith in Knight.

I agree, people would be demanding explanations if he'd kept quiet. We're still paying too much in wages, that's the problem and it will remain so until next summer's big clearout.Dr Hotdog wrote:Are signings on Transfer Deadline Day (!) the be-all and end-all of player transfers?

in his post Blackburn interview he talked about people going out to allow him to get people in. Seems pretty clear to me he knew the score.wigan white wrote:Im not arguing the fact that its better to do your business early, but when DF stated that we needed some more incomings after the Blackburn game then if there were no funds available, why let him bid for Kightly and Ramage only to find we couldnt afford them???

As to the bids - who says that those were actually made - media per chance, our local version of which had tried to hype up DD, so you'd follow their live web updates. Far as I saw, Illes reported we were in for those players whilst other sites had already reported that they'd signed for others.

Re: Gartside, please just shut up!!!!
John McGinlay just linked the Gartside article to his twitter and said 'what a load of tosh'.
Clearly unimpressed.

Re: Gartside, please just shut up!!!!
Shouldn't be doing that when he's employed by a rival club in the same division ffs.

Of whom? I need to update the Contract Expiry thread now the window's shut but given that Wheater signed extended terms and Ricketts has gone, I think we've only got four players out of contract next June: Mears, Knight, Ngog and Eagles... enough to make savings but not exactly a cure for all ills.LeverEnd wrote:We're still paying too much in wages, that's the problem and it will remain so until next summer's big clearout.
(Maybe Moritz too, can't remember, yes I know, I'll get round to it)

give him some credit though - it wasn't long ago that you were criticising gartside for his media silence - indeed for "disappearing"...
buggered if he speaks - buggered if he doesn't!

John McGinlay's a football legend at this club but a) He's not the sharpest tool in the box and b) he's good mates with Owen Coyle.
Agenda? Much?

He has not actually said anything in that interview though.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:John McGinlay just linked the Gartside article to his twitter and said 'what a load of tosh'.

I think coming out and saying 'we are having to run the club on a much smaller budget and we will have to get used to it because of x and y and z' would be an idea.
In fact if the speculation was that Dougie wasn't happy that article has done nothing to mitigate those fears.
Re: Gartside, please just shut up!!!!
given that he hasn't disappeared as you claimed and he IS talking to the media when you said he wasn't - surely just a TINY little apology in his direction??BWFC_Insane wrote:He has not actually said anything in that interview though.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:John McGinlay just linked the Gartside article to his twitter and said 'what a load of tosh'.

Re: Gartside, please just shut up!!!!
I've no problem with Gartside. He is doing what he's told. I just feel that the club are going into their shell, with little communication from that level this season. As an example PG didn't take questions as he had previously at the fans forum.thebish wrote:given that he hasn't disappeared as you claimed and he IS talking to the media when you said he wasn't - surely just a TINY little apology in his direction??BWFC_Insane wrote:He has not actually said anything in that interview though.thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:John McGinlay just linked the Gartside article to his twitter and said 'what a load of tosh'.

That is their right, of course. I'd just rather they were a bit more open, I think it would help now.
And that interview whilst showing Gartside still exists, does little else.
But yeah great that he at least quashed the silly rumours that he'd been sacked.

You really should think about being a politician you know. The way you bob and weave is f*cking spectacular.
I take it all the previous good work that Gartside did is in fact down to Eddie Davies, and therefore it would make not one jot of difference if we were to replace Gartside with someone (frankly as far as I understand it, anyone) because Uncle Ted calls all the shots and makes all the decisions anyway?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Gartside is experienced at what he does and has the trust of Eddie. Which is good enough for me.Lord Kangana wrote:You really should think about being a politician you know. The way you bob and weave is f*cking spectacular.

Lets remember who brought Eddie Davies in to invest anyhow.
Are you disagreeing that Eddie dictates the mandate?

I'm pointing out that he's seemingly conveniently started to in the last 10 months.

Re: Gartside, please just shut up!!!!
In terms of proportion of wages I think that will be very significant. Three of those seemed to be on his get-rid list this time around weren't they/ Under the new budgetary constraints I reckon you'll a lot more than 3 players for the savings made.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Of whom?
