I'm starting to think we need a new thread to reminisce about previous transfer threads. Oh how I long for the olden days.

here's 102 pages of the 2007 transfer thread...
starts with a bang:
and peters out with..Mitch Caine wrote:How about making an attempt to sign Juan Roman Riquelme from Villereal? He is out of favour at Villereal, no idea why as he is a fantastic player. He has been on loan at Boca Juniors but they cannot afford to keep him.
A player like him in our midfield would be awesome! Such creativity, attacking drive, etc.
Would love it if we signed him.

So no point even considering it.

So far then we've got Hamza Bencherif off to Plymouth and... nothing else! Not a sausage, zilch, feckall, nada, nowt, nil, zero, nought, nothing, a vasty absence, a vacuum, an abyss, zip, 0, a blank, a void, not-a-lot, nix, diddly squat, a cavity, zippo, nullity, a shutout, a lacuna, scratch, a vacancy, a no show, a gap, an hiatus, an empty space, feck-bleedin'-all!
That's not a leopard!

Re: PLYMOUTH'S stupendously all singing dancing transfer thr
I'm researching Cardiff for a work thing, and these seem to be the players they'll be letting out on loan having not made the 25-man squad: winger Craig Conway (the biggest surprise), striker Etien Velikonja, Slovakian midfielder Filip Kiss and full-back Simon Lappin.
Again, neither a rumour nor Bolton-based, but there should be a fair few Premier League outcasts we're sizing up now the squads have been named. If somebody's at a loose end...

Re: PLYMOUTH'S stupendously all singing dancing transfer thr
IF we have to move someone out before we bring someone in it is going to be hard this window. The teams looking for loans generally are the ones who don't want to spend big money. So who might pay any of our players wages?

Re: PLYMOUTH'S stupendously all singing dancing transfer thr
In theory though, something like this could happen. We loan out Matt Mills who let's say is on £20k pw, and the team loaning him is willing to pay 25% of his wages. We then get in some young prem loanee, such as Craig Dawson, who is on £5k pw and covering all of his wages we'd be in a financially neutral position but will be getting more out of the money. You know, in theory like, because it'll never happen.BWFC_Insane wrote:IF we have to move someone out before we bring someone in it is going to be hard this window. That's a good start. Now what we need to do is find the folks who aren't on that list and therefore kicking their expensive heels in splendid isolation. They are literally useless to their teams, who may be rather glad to keep them fit elsewhere. Why, those clubs may may even prefer to pay their wages to play regular football rather than pay them to not play.thebish wrote:Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I'm researching Cardiff for a work thing, and these seem to be the players they'll be letting out on loan having not made the 25-man squad: winger Craig Conway (the biggest surprise), striker Etien Velikonja, Slovakian midfielder Filip Kiss and full-back Simon Lappin.

Indeed. I was chuckling at a couple including ALBERT (Jussi Jaaskelainen). Just seems bizarre for a Fin.Athers wrote:It also allows us an opportunity to find silly and wonderful middle names

aye - haven't found a comprehensive list of them yet - and i had to go out and look as if I was doing some work! I suspect the only way would be to look up individual clubs one by one and find their full player list and painstakingly compare the lists - presumably what you did with Cardiff...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:That's a good start. I reckon Dougie has all these players Venn diagrammed.
With the middle section being the cross over between "good enough" and "Will play for free".
